Looking for some advice please... wondering whether or not to try baby aspirin again this IVF cycle. Unfortunately unable to ask my clinic as they won’t even discuss any “extras”, immediately dismissing them as unnecessary.
Last cycle I tried aspirin for the first time, but got a bfn. Was thinking I’d give it another go, but my husband is not so sure as we previously had a bfp without it (although sadly mmc at 8 weeks). So I was wondering if anyone has ever been told of any potential harmful/ detrimental effect of aspirin on IVF treatment? Thanks!

My last cycle my consultant said the benefits had never been proven and the latest research suggests it can be harmful unless you need it for a specific medical condition. I wouldn’t take anything with ivf without it being prescribed.
I’ve taken it and got BFP’s both times. The first time resulted in a chemical pregnancy though. The second time my consultant told me to stop taking at 7 week scan as I was bleeding & at risk of miscarriage, of course Aspirin thins your blood. My dr throughout pregnancy wanted me to take aspirin due to my age (37) but I refused.
My IVF consultant had nothing but good words to say about aspirin but I guess it depends on each individual person? Good luck! X
I would check with your clinic. Aspirin isn’t generally advised in pregnancy because it thins your blood, so although technically you’re not pregnant at transfer stage you must follow the same rules as if you are. Many ladies take baby aspirin but to be on the safe side get permission first. Good luck xx
I personally wouldn’t take it. I have a subchorionic hematoma which is apparently quite common after IVF and the consultant said if I took aspirin it would increase bleeding and put the babies at greater risk. If you are worried that you do have a blood clotting disorder maybe you could look into getting the tests done? Xx
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve had a normal basic clotting test done earlier this year which was normal so I’m not going to take it. Hope the twins are still doing well! 🌈🌈 xx
I am on baby aspirin as it was recommended, this is to rule out blood clotting issue so that blood flow is maintained in womb. I was told not to take aspirin a day before and on day of egg collection.
I was told to start baby aspirin with a positive pregnancy test and not before... but that is consultant led advice after several MC and blood test results. I would definitely speak to your clinic about it and force them to discuss 'extras' rather than just not bother - I personally would be very wary of self medicating
I was on salospir (it’s a form of aspirin you would have to google it as I’m in Greece and meds are different) one day before ET and am still on it 5 weeks pregnant now and apparently for sure up until 10 weeks doctor told me. I take one every morning but I should note I have a history of 6 miscarriages so I am on salospir in morning and injection in evening both blood thinners. Xx
I was put on baby Asprin the day after my transfer of a 5 day embryo.
It was recommended as a preventative measure against any potential blood clotting issues. I'm nearly 6 weeks now and still on it, my clotting factors were okay on last check. Still way too early to tell but I went with my doctors directions. I hope it goes okay.
