I'm about to start my second IVF cycle with donor eggs after a failed cycle last month.I don't have periods so the only medication I have been prescribed are Progynova, Cyclogest and aspirin.
The regime is almost the same as last time apart from my Progynova has been increase from 4 to 6 tablets a day.
I am a bit anxious that nothing else has changed and it didn't work last time.
One of the things I'm wondering is I've been prescribed an aspirin a day would clexane injections be more productive at my age, I'm over 50?
Does anyone has any knowledge or experience that would help my anxiety?
Thank you

they wanted to do the Alice and Emma tests. So I said can we do the era too. They seemed to think I didn’t need the era as I had had 2 chemicals so there was some implantation there. But they did it anyway coz I asked. We did transfer on day 6 instead of day 5 and it was the only thing we changed on our final attempt xxx
I’m not sure about she but I was on clexane until we got a positive test and had the viability scan then moved to aspirin for rest of the pregnancy. Not sure if that’s a possible option to discuss? The clexane then aspirin is the only thing we changed and it was our fourth transfer x
Hi, not sure about the age factor but I definitely think Clexane helps as it is helpful for providing blood supply and so does the aspirin and when asked to a consultant it is safe and can be given during the whole pregnancy also few weeks after.I think it would be better to ask the consultant what they think and may be they can add up.
Hi lovely, sorry to hear about the failure, it's horrible to go through. Embryos from donor eggs have about 50% chance of being successful and if your lining looked ok then it was most likely bad luck. I recently saw a specialist due to recurrent implantation failure (5 failed embryos made when I was 29) and he said the overwhelming majority of failed transfers are due to issues with the embryo (even with donor eggs). So you may not need to change anything this time, I'd have a chat with your clinic and see what they say. Lots of love
Hi,I had a thrombophilia test which showed that I have hereditary thrombophilia, so they put me on clexane and Aspirin and I got my first BFP. I had to come off the Aspirin as I got a subchorionic haematoma which can be caused by Aspirin, but remained on the clexane to week 12, then switched back to Aspirin.
The doctor said they'll put me back on clexane at week 28, I'm now week 16.
I was also put on extra progesterone after the haematoma.
Good luck with this cycle. It gets to the point where you think it'll never happen and then it does.
thank you and congratulations on your BFP. I’m not sure if I am just looking for things to be done differently to change the result. I don’t like keep asking questions of the clinic, it’s not in my nature, I normally go with the flow, but I know I need to start doing that.
Unless you insist on further testing, clinics don't always offer it and then you're left trying to wonder why it didn't worked. I wasn't happy with what my clinic said in the uk, so I went to Spain for all the tests and was then put on a mock cycle, 1 mth down reg for adenomyosis and then the clexane and Aspirin. It was a very specific protocol to me. I will never know if it was just the first viable egg I'd used or the protocol, but i wanted to think i did everything. You're paying for treatment you are entitled to ask questions and receive answers. X
Not sure about age but I’ve no eggs, rarely a period and using a donor. My protocols have been asprin and clexane due to repeated miscarriages and help with blood flow. I’m currently preparing for another DE transfer which is really gutting but I’m trusting my Dr that sometimes it’s just rotten luck. You should ask your clinic, ask them plenty of questions. I hope everything works out for you x
Hi Winniebear, I’m in the process of a FET with DE after our fresh cycle failed. My doctor has added Fragmin for this cycle (same as Clexane). I would ask, I was ready to ask my consultant but he beat me to the post with asking how I felt about adding it in the cycle.
Thank you Stargazer40, Were you on aspirin with your fresh cycle?I have asked the question but I think they will say stay with what has been prescribed.
I just feel i need tto do something ddifferent, if it didn't work last time, why should it this time.
Good luck to you too, when is your transfer
X
Hiya, no I wasn’t on aspirin. I have tried that before when I had IVF with my own eggs but but it didn’t work. I was really shocked my DE cycle didn’t work as we had a hatching brilliant grade embryo transferred and I was so sure it would work. I know exactly how you feel, but my friend got pregnant on her 4th transfer without adding or changing anything at all.
Don’t worry about continually asking questions it’s what your clinic are there for. I used to get anxious about it but now I think this clinic is my only chance of having a baby I need to know. When do you start your next cycle ?
Thanks for the good luck wishes it’s around the 22nd of May. My consultant has said we won’t leave a stone unturned in finding issues if this one doesn’t work. I only have two frozen DE embryos and then we are done
