Advice reference cyclogest

Hi there

I am currently 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant.

I had my treatment at a private hospital, and when I had my positive scan at 8 weeks, they then sent me back to my doctors surgery, as their work was done.

I booked on with a midwife and requested a 12 week scan, as requested by the private hospital that I had my treatment at.

I will be 12 weeks in 3 days time, do I stop the cyclogest pesseries then or wait until my scan, when I will be 13 weeks 2 days

My midwife says ask my GP and there are no gps available to ask until next Friday apparently as they will need to see me to answer the question!

Can anyone here help please

Congrats on your bfp.

Every clinic will have different views- I stayed on cyclogest progestrone till I was 12 weeks which is what my fertility dr told me to. My dating scan took place a few days after I’d stopped taking em, I now have a 3 month old daughter, Before 12 weeks the placenta takes over & your body will produce natural progesterone to support your pregnancy.

It’s entirely up to you if it makes you feel better continue taking them till your scan it won’t harm the pregnancy 🙂 you can always double check with your clinic to see what they want you to do really they should have given you instructions.

Anyway all the best with your pregnancy xxx

Hey don’t know if this will be any help to you but I’m on my tww of an iui and I’m using the cyclogest please god I’m successful this time round they say I take the cyclogest up until twelve weeks when the body is then able to produce enough progesterone itself to maintain the pregnancy (think I’ve got that bit right anyways) I don’t think it would do any harm to continue with the cyclogest to be honest till your advised by the gp next week that it’s ok to stop a few more days won’t hurt the job the cyclogest do is a good thing so I can’t see it causing you any damage but I’m not a doctor I’m sure if you phoned the clinic who treated you they could ask the nurse and call you back you paid enough to have the treatment I’m sure they could advise you good luck Hun xx

I started to reduce mine at 11 weeks, went from 2 x 400 per day down to one for 7 days, then stopped at 12 weeks. However, I would have stopped earlier at 10 weeks, my clinic just forgot to tell me when to stop!

I reduced to one a day at 9 weeks and stopped just before 10 weeks x

It will do you no harm to carry on taking them. Then you can ask when you go.

Hi Kinbo80

Congratulations on your pregnancy. In my first pregnancy, that is last year, I had a low lying placenta and had a bit of bleed at 11 weeks. My Gynae advised me to continue on it until 30 weeks. However, in my second pregnancy I took it only until 14 weeks and then stopped. I would recommend that you wait to see the doctor before you stop on your own, as it has no harm on the pregnancy.

Hi, im currently 7wks snd 3 days pregnant & my clinic has told me to reduce from just after 9wks pregnant (10th wk) and to stop completely just after 10wks pregnant (11th wk). They have advised me that the placenta produces sufficient hormones from week 9-10 of pregnancy so it is safe to stop the medication on week 11.

In my circumstances I wanted to double check as having been through early menopause, prior to IVF I was on HRT. But they have assured me that both menopausal patients and non-menopausal patients can stop the medication at week 11 as the hormonal support comes from the placenta and not from the hormones from the ovaries.

Your clinic should advise you on their protocol as they are all a bit different, but hope this helps x
