**Update** - Booking in appointment...

Thanks for everyone for responding to the below message.

I just had my booking in appointment and all seemed well - they paired me with an Irish midwife (I am also Irish) so really happy.

As you all said it was easy enough - bloods and urine testing and lots of questions - my head is spinning.

Even though this is a natural pregnancy they have referred me to a consultant to check everything is ok as it was after a failed IVF and they are classing that as a previous miscarriage which is fine by me.

Now just to not go mental waiting for the 12 week scan!

Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else is waiting for their appointment too...

Original Message :

Hi guys,

I have my booking in appointment with my midwife for the first time tomorrow.

What should I expect? Just bloods and urine test?

Feels like a decade since I did the pregnancy test....

Lots of paperwork where they go through all your medical history, they’ll ask about your partner’s family history as well so make sure you know about whether any of his close relatives have had heart attacks/diabetes etc.

Thanks Lizzie - ok so bit of a change from IVF appointments. No scans up your do-dah 😅 phew....x

Nothing particularly “physical” at all, mainly talk. Mine was at my house so I then had to take blood forms down to the hospital afterwards to get the initial tests done. I did have a urine test as well and they asked me my height and weight (I didn’t know my height in metres and I swear it’s now wrong in my notes!).

It took around an hour.

Ok sounds easy enough :)

Thanks for the info xxx

Ps - hurrah for no do dah scans :) xx

Aww thanks. The waiting is like an extended TWW haha but hopefully will get the all clear at 12 weeks 🤞🤞🤞

The more appointments you have, the more real it all becomes. I have finally relaxed now that I’m 20 weeks, have had my anomaly scan and can feel baby moving A LOT. I’m now getting anxious about giving birth LOL.

in reply toLizzielizzielizzie

Yes I would love to get to that stage - I am at the 'is it really still in there' stage - so anxious.

So exciting you got past the 20 week milestone. I can imagine the closer it gets to the birth you get more anxious.

Feeling the baby move must be great reassurance :)

Nothing to add to what everyone else has said; just enjoy 😃 x

I am looking forward to having some support finally - was discharged from the fertility clinic as soon as I got a natural BFP and kind of in limbo since! 😀

Thanks for your well wishes - hopefully it feels a bit more real after today 😁

Yeh I understand that would have been difficult. Be sure to let your midwife know any concerns you have as they can reassure or perhaps offer extra care xx

Ah thanks :) how far along are you now? Xxx
