Hi everyone, not posted for a while, but kept reading stories on here! And kept hoping for success! 🧡
We have just started another fresh round. My question is about the Cyclogest pessaries - and was hoping to hear what others are doing.
Edit: felt that was way too much to read 😂😇 so made it much shorter!
How are you all taking your progesterone pessaries?
I just cannot seem to get timing to suit. Evening dose is ok, but 12 hours later, I just can’t lie down/sit still for morning dose as my day have started, worried I don’t give it long enough to absorb properly!
Wishing you all the best!! And thank you!! In advance!! 🧡🍍💫

hi, I did my morning dose at 7am and since I had to get up for work at 7:15, I got up at 6:45 and then lay down for 20-30 mins. Then timed the evening ones so I got at least sit still for 30 mins for it to absorb. I still felt like a lot ‘fell out’ but it must have worked on as my levels were ok when they tested 🤞🤞
The only way I found it manageable was using them in the ‘back door, it’s less messy, you can do it on the go, at home or outside, and does not take over your day. Good luck x
Thank you! Noted others are saying the same! Just the clinic and leaflet said vaginally when using them for ivf, but I think I might try this! Thank you! 🧡
I’ve been told there’s no need to sit/lie down & that enough will be absorbed if you just crack on with your day. I hate them though! I didn’t have any issues with Lutigest but Cyclogest made me sore “down there” & just uncomfortable. I’ve been wondering if it’s because Lutigest comes with an applicator so you can get them up higher. Someone has told me you can get cyclogest applicators online so I’m going to have a look as I’m due to start them again next week.
After several rounds I started inserting them from behind, didn’t think I’d be able to but once I started it was so easy and sooo much more convenient. Best of luck x
I use Crimone gel in morning and afternoon. Its gel so no need to lay down and fit well when at work. Cyclogest pessaries are for night time and though sometimes the wax coat come out, its ok and not much inconvenience. Crimone is pricey though.
Hey, I've just started mine yesterday and doing them rectally as my clinic advised. Apparently they can cause irritation and bleeding going into the vagina. First IVF round for me and never done this before so a bit mentally uncomfortable but not so bad and pretty quick once you have done it a couple of times.
Oh you are not far behind! How do you feel? 🥰 Just hard for me as our first round, although years ago now, I was told to only do them vaginally because of how they absorb. But evidence must be poor because now clinics seems to say you can do either! But it is just hard to change mindset when you have been told something different from the start! But I just can’t always get the timing practical for the mess afterwords - so decided to do most vaginally, but the days time does not allow I will do them in the back passage 😇
Just wanted to wish you all the best and got my fingers crossed!! 🧡💫
Hey Sparklylife thanks for the reply, ah yes I can see why it's hard when you have prior experience and advice with the pessaries - I really goped my clinic would suggest the vaginal route because I struggled mentally with the rectal route but yes I've also read online that both can be used to the same clinical effect! So I think you don't have anything to worry about
Thanks for asking, I'm finding it ok overall - got 10 eggs and the clinic did a mix of IVF and ICSI, found out yesterday we got 100% fertilisation with ICSI and 0% with IVF, the clinic didn't see any sperm adhered to the eggs so this is the reason its never worked naturally for us - which was a bit of a shock but also good information going forward. Trying to stay positive, we have 4 embryos and will find out Tue if any are good to transfer on Wed 🤞
How are you finding it all? What stage are you at? Wishing you all the luck too 🤞❤️ xx
Thank you for the reassurance! 🥰 Last time, I took both pessaries on an evening too (clinics instructions), which was so much easier (in 2020), but for our FET in 2023 it had changed to 12 hours apart 😇
We got 3 eggs 27/03 and all 3 fertilised with ivf, so just hoping they are developing genetically normal now! We don’t get an update before morning of possible transfer, which is tomorrow!! So my palms are starting to sweat now! But trying to keep calm and keep hope! 🧡🥰
It is hard, but at least you got some answers with that I suppose! So if you ever needed any more in future, they can tailor it for you and your partner. But something you might not have to consider! As hopefully you will have great success this time of course!! 🧡🤞💫 I got everything crossed for you and your embryos too! I will be thinking of you Wednesday! 💫
Ah that's interesting, yes I can imagine it's much easier doing them both at the same time! That's fantastic you got 3 fertilised 😊 I'm crossing my fingers they have developed nicely over the weekend and you get good news tomorrow morning 🤞it's such a nervous time isn't it? It must be even more nerve wracking not getting an update in between! How nice we are only 2 days apart 🤗 I am sending lots of positivity and thinking of you for tomorrow 🤞
Thanks, yes I am trying to be positive and feeling thankful we have an answer and that our clinic decided to also do ICSI as I'd have been so upset with a 100% fertilisation failure. Thank you so much for the kind words and positivity, it means a lot 😊 Let me know how it goes tomorrow! X
