Hi,

Just a quick question I’ve already been diagnosed by the gynaecologist that I have PCOS and I was just wondering if I still need to get my hormone blood tests done before my dr refers me to the fertility clinic.

Many thanks x

I have PCOS too and had to have all the tests at the fertility clinic. So I’m guessing if you need them they will do them along with all your partners tests, they still test your partner before any treatment is started to make sure he has no complications. Hope this helps. Good luck xxx

Hi There

I also have PCOS and yup ypu need hormone tests all of the time. For me it was part of the referral criteria for the fertility clinic; also make sure your BMI is below 30 and your smear test is up to date! Have you spoken to the GP yet?

If you have any more questions fire away, this is a really helpful forum :)

Good luck!

Hey Emma,

My drs have said they won’t refer me until my hormone bloods have been done so I’ve booked in for next Friday for my hormone blood test (during cycle day 2-5). Then will have rebook for cycle day 21 after. My Drs are crap at giving appointments when you are offered one it’s waiting for it between 2-4 weeks at a time. I haven’t checked my BMI yet And my smear test is up to date also.

Thank you for responding

Good luck to you also

Xx

Hello

I know it is super frustrating!! One thing you end up with during all these fertility treatments and tests is patience!! At least you are getting the process started.

From those dates it looks like they are trying to confirm if you have a 'regular cycle'. The first bloods will check your baseline and the day 21 bloods confirm you have ovulated (if you usually have a 28 day cycle???). My personal issue is that I don't ovulate so I am very familiar with these bloods ha. These results will help the fertility doctor decide on a treatment course. If your worried about getting an appt could you go for a nurse appt rather than a doctor??

Basically how I sum up fertility treatment is either wishing your period won't appear or wishing it would come early.

I usually have a 28 cycle.. the nurses are only there on certain days and that’s hard to get a appointment with the nurse also.

Thank you for your wise words, I really appreciate it.
