Male blood tests back from GP!

My husband went to his GP yesterday and finally got some sort of information as to why he doesn’t produce enough sperm.

His LH and FSH are really high. He’s now being sent for his prolactin and this is where I will be ringing the clinic.

I left work early yesterday to get back home to phone in private but they closed.

It’s going to be a lunchtime job but I need to sort this.

1. Will they try and sort the hormone problem with meds and send us away for another year to try naturally?

2. The doctor at the GP said he can see that an application for the funded cycles are processing so why do we need another assessment.

3. When can we start treatment so that we can at least get on with starting a family.

I am hoping for a positive outcome after the phone call today but I think I’ve woken up slightly negative and that’s due to the fact that my husband was really low last night and there was no bringing him back to positivity.

x

Hi

I don’t know how helpful I can be , but I have high prolactin which was picked up during the initial blood work when we started fertility treatment. I was referred to an Endocrinologist who I’ve seen alongside my fertility specialist and it hasn’t interrupted our treatment. The cause of my raised prolactin is a small bump on my brain, (can’t remember the technical term.!) which was picked up during an MRI. Nothing to worry about, I’ve been taking medication once a week for 6 months and my prolactin levels have drastically dropped to within normal range. I will probably be on my meds for life, but half a tablet once a week is something I can live with! Good luck on your journey.
