Blood levels thyroid, vit d iron
I am very sorry for your chemical pregnancy. I had one in 2017 & it’s so heartbreaking.
I have suffered with anaemia ( low iron) mainly caused by my heavy periods which was caused by endometriosis. I was prescribed ferrous sulphate & it helped. I’ve also got anaemia again this time in pregnancy & again been given ferrous sulphate.
I’m not sure of the impact on fertility with low iron but I have felt much less tired when I’ve had ferrous sulphate to boost my low iron levels.
I haven’t got experience of the other two but have heard vitamin D is important when TTC or pregnant. Hopefully your GP or clinic can prescribe you a strong vitamin D.
With the thyroid your GP or clinic should monitor that closely & TSH should be under 2 for fertility & pregnancy.
I hope you are holding up okay xxx
Firstly I'm sorry for your loss, make sure you are taking the time to take care of yourself. I second what Jess says on your thyroid and vitamin D. In terms of your low iron levels, I would be surprised if your chemical has caused this. I say this as I lost a LOT of blood after giving birth and a one off bleed won't necessarily cause low iron levels, especially if bloods are done more than 12 hours later. You may be anaemic. I don't know if this can cause fertility problems, but when you think about it logically, in pregnancy you make more blood to support the baby, so it would make sense to have good iron levels in advance. See if you can speak to your GP. But in the meantime, plenty of broccoli and peas for you, and fortified cereals!
I’m sorry for your loss.
There are some guidelines by the btf for pregnancy and thyroid issues:
btf-thyroid.org/projects/pr...
Ideally ask to maximise thyroid treatment before pregnancy- around or just below tsh 1 but definitely not above 2.
Chemical pregnancies are extremely common (I’ve had a couple) but it doesn’t make it any easier. Having better vit d and iron and thyroid will support a future pregnancy well. There’s a vitamin d spray you can take from Holland and Barrett if you’re not on prescription vit d. X
That’s great! The key thing is to be monitored in early pregnancy. Some women are different and their thyroid accommodates the pregnancy, most who rely fully on thyroxine need to raise it a couple of times.
Best to know you’re well replaces and tsh around 1 before pregnancy then get a test In the first 5-6 weeks and keep tsh below 2.5 though it can go right down to 0.3. Get another test 2-4 weeks later (see guidelines) I have always found I need another raise before 9/10 weeks and again by 13/14 weeks. Then tend to come down in last trimester.
Good luck!
Yeah thanks cause mine is currently 4.1 so too high for pregnancy. Going to docs next week
