I have recently finished a 5 day course of Norethisterone to bring on a period as I had been overdue. My period started on Monday.
Came away feeling happy as the process was finally underway.
Received a call from the hospital to say the Estrogen levels from my blood tests today are too high (1700) therefore, I cannot continue with the medication & I need to wait another 4 weeks to see if I have a period, in the hope my Estrogen levels will drop.
Feeling frustrated as it seems to be one thing after another & want to get started with the process.
My Estrogen levels at the start of Dec were around 250-300, end of Dec they were around 400 do now to have jumped to 1700 after a bleed, I do not really understand?
Hi Leli, yes I had something like this, it is so frustrating...In July my oestrogen was less than 200, in October I had an excessively long wait for my period then oestrogen came in at 500. Turned out I had a cyst and the clinic advised me to wait. The following month my estrogen was even higher, over 1000. In December it was back below 200 and my treatment was given the go ahead. They said hormonal fluctuations just happen, especially if you get a small cyst, you need to wait for it to pass. Hopefully your levels will be better next month. I know it's so annoying and frustrating, but you can't do anything about it. They say there is no point in going ahead with the cycle when your hormones are like this, so it's better not to waste a cycle. Hope things work out soon xx
When I had my scan today, the nurse did say there was a small cyst which would just pass on its own so maybe due to that.
Like yourself, I also have had a longer wait than usual since my last period which is why I was put on the Norethisterone. Maybe these factors are making everything high.
Just need to be patient & hope my hormones settle down soon.
