Sickness after stopping medication

Hi, I had a BFN on Monday and so stopped taking all of my medication that morning. I was taking prednisolone, progesterone pessaries and estradiol. On Monday evening I started being sick, this continued every half an hour for the whole night. It was horrific. I had stomach pains as well so put it down to starting my period and shedding the lining. However, I haven’t been able to eat more than one small meal a day all week without feeling sick. I kept blaming the period but could it be a reaction to coming off the medication? Has anyone else felt the same? I rang the clinic all day Tuesday but they were busy and never answered. I’m also wondering if it could be a bug because the prednisolone was to suppress my immune system. It just felt like an extra kick in the teeth after such terrible news. X

What does of prednisolone were you taking? on higher doses of steroids it is often recommended to wean the does down rather than just stopping cold turkey. Although im not sure it would cause vomiting, may be worth looking into. x

I can't believe the clinic haven't got back to you. Can you phone your local NHS ivf clinic for advise? Also, I don't like to get hopes up but have you tested again? So sorry you are going through all this xx

I would either pm Diane or even try a pharmacist for some medical advice re; whether it’s the come down off the drugs or a bug. Like you said, it might possibly be a bug as your immune system is probably vulnerable. I hope you feel better soon xx

That’s terrible that your clinic haven’t bothered getting back to you when your feeling so ill! I’d call the 111 nhs number and speak to them to see if they have some advice for you. I hope you are feeling better soon 💕 xX

Hi ChihuahuaMam. Might even be due to stopping the prednisolonevsuddenly, if that’s what you did. It should be gradually reduced. Let’s hope you soon feel better whatever the cause. Diane

Thank you all for your comments. When I got my BFN the clinic just told me on the phone to stop all of the medication on that day as they aren’t needed any more. Im hoping I start to feel normal soon. It has been a pretty rubbish week so far. Thank you all again. Xx
