As a few of you know I started my stims on Monday 22nd, had my baseline scan and was told everything looked good.
Didn't have another scan until Friday 26th (day 5 of stims) at which point I was feeling pretty ill and was told I had 7 follicles on the left and 12 on the right and to start my cetrotide that day and that I needed to reduce my dosage of gonal F straight away.
Had a scan today, the 29th and only day 8 of stims and have been told that the side with 7 looks ready to pop and that I have to have my EC on Wednesday as those follicles are ready. Only problem is my right ovary that has 12 follicles, they're all only measuring about 13mm and are no where near ready. I've basically been told that they'd collect them anyway on Wednesday but all 12 are pretty much useless
Trying to be happy that it Egg Collection will be Wednesday so I have fewer injections to do than expected and be positive than 7 healthy looking follicles is great but I can't help but feel down about the 12 that are basically being abandoned I just feel annoyed at myself as I knew something wasn't right and that things felt like they were moving too fast and I felt more sick than I should have done - I feel like I should have begged for a scan between day 1 and day 5 so that they could have reduced my dosage earlier maybe?
Has any one been through this and does anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance x

I wasnt on the same meds as you. But my one ovary was working harder than the other. They said each cycle could be different. They only managed to get 7 or 5 follicles i think.
During my ICSI, 5 eggs were injected, 4 fertilised, 3 divided, top quality one was put back, unfortunately remainder were not suitable for freezing.
We are so blessed it only took 1... i am 8 weeks tomorrow. So my message to you is stay positive and have faith and hope xxx
Good luck all the way. Please let us know how you get on x
I was in a similar situation to you- I had one super turbo-ovary and the other was clearly in no rush! They only managed to collect 4 from me on EC (despite having 19 follicles to choose from, only 4 were the right size).
The happy news is, that as those 4 were really well developed, 3 fertilised and then made it to blastocyst stage. We got our BFP 11 days later and on Thursday I'm off for the viability scan (hopefully they'll be able to tell me whether both the little blastos they put back made it!).
Definitely don't lose hope- 7 is such a good number especially if they are so advanced, so are likely to be healthy and strong. Really rooting for you sweetheart! Good luck!!! xxxxxx <3
Thanks hun, all this is so scary the first time around and hearing other people's experience is a huge help. Really appreciate you finding the time to reply x
Thanks hun, this last week has been such a roller coaster. I really appreciate you taking time to reply and I will keep my fingers crossed that the others catch up a little x
HI again LegoBatgirl (love that name btw!). Well... we are both having egg retrieval on Wednesday. I did the exact same drugs as you, and I think I started one day earlier, so I think we are not much different? I was told I have 12 follicles total (both sides), they didn't give me any specifics about the sizes though. I really wouldn't worry too much what they told you about the specifics, it sounds like you've had a great response and you never do know until collection exactly what they get! How are you feeling now? I'm still pretty miserable with discomfort but glad it's last injection tonight so nearly there! Hang in there, you are so close! Xx
I had that too, only my whole cycle was abandoned altogether I didn’t even make it to egg collection as my body peaked far too quickly & bloods were through the roof! Fingers crossed the follicles that are ready are the lucky ones for you🤞🏼💕xx
I'm so sorry to hear that, that sounds really stressful. I definitely feel ready to pop on one side, I'm hoping that I don't lose any of the follicles that are ready between now and Wednesday!
Thanks for taking the time to reply, really appreciate it x
Thanks so much to everyone for replying, I really appreciate it. I really love this forum, it's so great to be able to get everyone's collective experience and wisdom in one place x
They change the dates all the time. It's quite normal. Sounds great that you are ready for collection. Wishing you all the best for a good number fertilised - but remember you only need one.
