Had a scan yesterday day 7 of stims and they have seen 36 follicles and I’m now panicking incase I get OHSS. I’m currently taking gonal f 300 and menopur 75. This is 2nd cycle ICSI, I had 18 follicles and 12 eggs collected first time and had mild OHSS.Clinic haven’t reduced meds just told me to eat plenty protein and drink water and isotonic drinks. 🙈 Has anyone experienced this many follicles growing and not ended up with OHSS? Xx

Too many follicles?
Hey! I am 3dp5dt on second round of ICSI. First round they got 18 eggs and i felt pretty rough for a while afterwards but nothing major.
Second round they didnt scan me until day 10, immediately after the scan they told me there were well over 30 follicles and put me straight onto medication and gave me trigger shot to take that night. I only had 7 follicles measuring at the right level and i was devastated. They actually retrieved 27 eggs at EC and have just kept an eye on me. I am taking some blood thinning injections too but i feel completely fine, i was really bloated but feel better this round than last. Just kept drinking tons of water. The bloating is starting to reduce each day.
Fingers crossed it stays at bay but it sounds like they are monitoring you well amd trying not to worry xx
Thank you for your reply. I’m pretty worried about egg quality too as I’d rather have less follicles with better quality eggs. I’m down at clinic tomorrow for scan so I will see how things are then, they did say majority of follicles still on the smaller size. Good luck on your 2ww and I hope you get your Bfp xx
I worried about this too as my first round we had bad egg quality as the protocol wasnt right for me so the eggs were kind of rushed during stims. We only got 1 early blast.
I cried last week telling the nurse they are too small and not ready, however this time we got a 5AB hatching blastocyst and the overall results were massively better than the first round. So i felt exactly the same as you. 15 of the eggs were mature so all the little ones make up the 27 im guessing. They were only expecting 7 so in the end it all worked out really well.
So on a round where i have been really high risk OHSS, had tons more follicles which were mostly too small we have performed better and i have recovered faster. I think the eggs that were mature must have just grown at a nice steady pace. Im sure you will get great results, fingers crossed for you xx
OMG 😮 😳 how many eggs?!?!🤯
You are an egg machine!!😁 well done! 🤞for u
Lol I’ve pcos so I do produce lots but it has its downside too as I’d rather produce less and have better quality. First cycle I got 12 eggs, 11 fertilised and only 3 made it to day 5 of which 2 placed back in and it resulted in my daughter. I’d like to have a few embryos to freeze this time. Xx
Same, PCO we havent had any to freeze either round but hoping this one sticks 🙏. In my case the stimms were what affected the quality the first time. Sounds like you are really similar to me. Good luck xx
🤣🤣 I know but not all could be used, i woukd have been happy with just a few good quality ones and hopefully that's what we have cooking xx
Hello, we're currently on day 14, first round of ICSI so we're new to this, we had EC this morning and I have had terrible trapped wind this afternoon but otherwise all good, stocked up on peppermint oil, cordial and tea to help ease it.
So we had 36 follicles on day 8, then 32 on both days 10 & 12. Today they collected 21 eggs ranging from 13-25mm. They expected my oestradial bloods to double from day 10 to day 12 which would have meant a FET due to the increased risk as it was nearing the 15000 mark, but they actually dropped slightly.
They have told us from the beginning to be aware of the signs of OHSS due to my high ovarian reserve but are currently happy to proceed with a fresh transfer as I have no symptoms. I think our dose was at the lower end of the scale to begin with, Bemfola 150 & Cetrotide 0.25 short protocol. Obviously we understand there is time for it to kick in but I am having a lot of protein, still sports drinks and coconut water plus a general increase in fluid intake hoping that keeps symptoms at bay until the risk is reduced. We will see how the next 5 days go if we can continue as planned🤞.
Hope this helps xx
That’s a great number of eggs, well done! Happy to hear you’re not feeling too bad just take it easy. I’ve had some bad news today unfortunately my LH is starting to surge so I’ve to get bloods checked in morning and to take an extra certrotide injection tonight to try and hold it off. We might have to abandon the cycle I just hope we’ve caught it on time and can proceed with egg collection Monday or Tuesday x
Fingers crossed for you that they get hold of it with that extra injection. Are you back on Sunday for monitoring? I really hope you can continue as normal, easier said than done but try not to stress and overthink it as it won't help in the long run. Make sure you get some rest xx
