I had my EC collection yesterday which resulted in 12 eggs. Been told this morning that 9 were suitable for ICSI and 6 have fertilised!
It’s early days after the procedure but I expected to feel worse due to my high risk hyperstimulation. I’ve been told that the embryos may have to be frozen, but on the other hand, I was also told that a day 5 transfer is likely? They have also given me Fragmin to take starting Day 2 (blood thinners). I’m very confused?
If my OHSS symptoms don’t get worse will I be suitable for ET? I do have bloating and I’m a bit tender but I don’t want to get my hopes up for a Monday Transfer and then find out I have to wait 4-6 weeks if I have OHSS.

Hello, hopefully I can provide you with some positivity in this situation 💕
I have mild OHSS too and here’s my ‘stats’ if you will...short protocol, more/higher stimulation than I’d had before. 26 follicles before EC, 24 eggs at EC, 17 fertilised, then fell to 13 three days after collection. Then on the magical day 4 we had 7 turn to blastocyst. I had one transferred back this Monday (day 5) and then by day 6 we have 5 to freeze.
I was very nervous that my clinic would push me to freeze all and then do a frozen transfer next month.
So literally ALL I did for the 2 days after the collection was sleep, drink water, wee and watch films! 😂
I did absolutely nothing other than try to keep myself rested and hydrated.
They said due to my OHSS there’s no way I would be ready for a 3 day transfer.
Keep positive thoughts flowing and rest is your friend! Xxx
Thank you shinystar. Im resting up and taking full advance of the hubby’s bedside manner!
I’m drinking plenty of water, probably 3l minimum per day and realised the hard way that small meals is best as my dinner has caused mega bloating and more pain.
They told me as I have 6 eggs they will try to wait for day 5 as best they can. I’m hoping that transfer goes as planned but I have positive mojo about it! X
Oh I forgot to mention before that I find not letting my bladder get too full helps massively too with the pain. Obviously not easy when you’re drinking as much water as we are at the mo! 🙈
All the more reason to be at home resting...ie near your own bathroom for comfort.
I had 19 eggs on my last collection and was at risk of ohss. I didn’t feel too bad.. I was carefully monitored before transfer; had bloods taken and gave a urine sample, asked lots of questions about urine output, pains, bloating, how much I was drinking etc etc (btw, try to drink at least two litres a day) and they were happy for me to go ahead on day 5. Good luck xx
Hi Tugsgirl! Thanks for your reply. I’m have at least 3litres minimum per day and my pee is pale. All looking good so far. No shortness of breath, diarrhoea or swollen ankles on Day 1. Just 4 more to go 🤞🏻 X
I had a frozen round as my OHSS had gotten worse when waiting for day 5, so it was best all around and actually, I ended up in hospital on day 5.
If it is mild and you don't get worse then I am sure they will do fresh, this is what my clinic said to me but. You will know in yourself if you will make it transfer for a fresh, I knew the next day there was no chance. I put on so much weight and it hurt to move.
Just monitor how you are doing and drink lots of water. I do hope you feel better soon too xx
Thank you so much, it’s good to know what to look out for. I’m not going to take any chances and anything that gets worse I’ll phone straight away. The clinic are going to call me on Saturday to see if I need to go in for a scan before transfer. X
