hello !! I hope you’re doing well and keeping strong at whatever stage you are going through right now, sending you all loads of hope and good luck ! Xx
I have egg collection scheduled for tomorrow morning, and I’ve been told if everything goes well (fingers crossed!), we may have the embryo transfer next week on Monday or Wednesday. I’m trying to organise work life for next week but not sure about what are you supposed to do and what you shouldn’t do.
E.g. If I have embryo transfer on Wednesday, would it be ok to go to the office on Friday, this involves commuting on train/walking for 1 hour and 20 minutes each way and carrying a laptop.
im planning to take day off on the day of the transfer, but should I be taking more?
Any advice would be very useful, thank you !!

thank you lovely !! All the best wishes for you too xx I’m just not sure how much rest and recovery is normally recommended, I’m definitely getting ahead of myself haha so I’ll take it one step at a time and see how I feel ! Thanks again xx
They normally say you can get back to your normal routine the next day.
Personally I’d suggest taking it easier the first couple of days after and not doing anything too strenuous if possible. It’s your first transfer so you may be quite anxious about things so don’t put yourself under undue stress if it’s not needed.
My very first transfer I took the entire 2 wks off work and barely moved as I was so scared- would definitely not recommend this!! The two transfers in which I had positives, I was out and about 2-3 days after transfer.
Go with what you feel comfortable with. After 5 transfers I’ve found that for me, I prefer to have a few days off work following transfer as my job is quite physical and mentally demanding. I did go out for walks and keep active during my time off, just didn’t have the added work stress!
Good luck with your collection and keep us updated. X
thank you so much for sharing your experience! I really appreciate it. It is my first collection, transfer and everything! And it all is happening very quickly after a very long wait, it’s very exciting and scary at the same time!. I’m sorry that your journey has been hard, I wish you all the best I really hope it works out soon for you, keep strong xx
Forgot to add, I definitely felt more tired after my transfers. Do remember you’ll be asked to start taking progesterone soon as well so this can add to feeling tired. Pace yourself according to how you feel.
Either way, don’t worry too much!! Good luck with everything, look after yourself and sending positive vibes your way!! X
thank you very much xxx I’m just back from egg collection, feeling ok so far , hopefully the FET will also be like this. It really helps to hear from others to ease my mind , thanks again for taking your time to respond. Wishing you all the best of luck on your end too xx
I will say that my friend who’s 45 was doing everything as normal after transfer and everything was fine. She travelled overseas, has been going to work and is socialising as normal. Goes to show that there’s absolutely nothing you can do that could change the outcome. It’s just the usual advice of not lifting anything too heavy or doing strenuous exercise xx
oh wow , thank you ver much for sharing this ! It’s really helping me to see things from a more confident perspective! I’ll see how I feel, just came back home from the egg collection and so far all good !
yeah I agree with nenad. Take transfer day off but go back to normal shortly after. You need something to take your mind off the dreaded 2ww! I’ve had 6 transfers, 3 bfps, currently 15 wks with my 6th. My doctor said to have maccy d chips which I did on 2 of 3 transfers where I got bfps - something to do with the salt. Don’t need to tell me twice! Best of luck with it all xxx
aww congratulations!! I hope all it’s going well xx thank you very much for the tips, I’ll keep the salt in mind
I’m Just back from egg collection and feeling ok so far , I think it definitely helps to experience each of the stages and hear from others to take away the worries !!
I admit that I was nervous to get up after my transfer! The consultant who did it was really nice and explained the little embryo wasn’t going anywhere and I should continue living my life, just avoiding any strenuous activity (but walking, swimming and yoga for example were fine), reducing stress, staying hydrated and eating well. I’ve went a walk each day since. Early into TWW. Good luck xx
thank you very much for sharing these tips! I hope it’s all going well for you xx
The consultant today said the same that I should just take it easy for first 36 hours and then just carry on as normal , as that’s what people do with natural pregnancy and the rest nature will take care of ! Fingers crossed !!!
