Honestly hundreds of pounds worth of vitamins has made absolutely zilch difference to sperm in fact it's bloomin worse than last time. Total waste of time and pennies xxx
Vitamins what a waste: Honestly... - Fertility Network UK
Vitamins what a waste
What was he taking? My OH has been taking Fertilix the last three months and it seems to have made quite a big difference xx
Oh no really?? What was your OH on? I've got my OH on balackmoores conceive well bet it was just a waste of money too! X
Unfortunately, this is our experience too. We have been seeing a fertility nutritionist which cost a fortune who prescribed us lots of expensive supplements. My husband had a sperm test before seeing her and taking anything and then after 6 months and 12 months after taking supplements. No difference in results. I think they can help in certain cases if a man is having an unhealthy lifestyle and makes all the changes, but for some men it is unfortunately a bit of a waste. Xxx
We experienced the same for both my egg quality when I was taking expensive supplements and my other half taking supplements for his sperm. He was advised not to drink for a week before and eat oily mackrell fish a few nights before. It seemed to work for him. At least we can say we have tried - although the cost is really frustrating. Wishing you all the best x
I guess we were quite lucky that our NHS consultant told us from day 1 that if we had done the basics, diet, exercise, no alcohol etc that there was nothing else that could change our situation. I guess we'll try anything once we get to this stage but at least you know now and wont waste anymore pennies on this!xx
My OH changed his diet introduced a lot more fruit and veg (organic is supposed to be better) and our clinic advised he be on condensyl which really helped not massively but there was definitely improvements. There is something called menevit too, and proxeed plus i believe which has really good reviews xxx
Through my job, I was able to go private when I found out I had a low sperm count. I saw a Harley Street specialist and did so many tests and discussions.
He explained vitamins and antioxidants can help improve quality, but only in the context of a healthy diet, giving up smoking, taking up sport, that sort of thing. Its not a miracle cure unfortunately. That's how it was explained to me anyway.
More useful was the scan of my testes looking for blocks ,etc, genetic tests on the sperm produced , but unless you can get this done privately , it can all work out very expensive way of telling you , you need ICSI to make your wife pregnant.
Hi Sorry to hear your bad news what was he taking?
We have spent a lot of money on vitamins for both of us but we don’t anymore; just Wellman conception and Pregnacare conception xx
My partner uses proxeed plus and cut down on alcohol. We’ll never know if it was the vitamins or alcohol that helped! I’ve completely given up on expensive supplements for me I’m just taking folic acid and vit d xx
Sorry that was your experience 😕
I guess vitamins can help depending on what’s the reason for the low sperm in the first place, and it can’t be difficult to know if it will help until we try.
Please think that you’ve done your best for trying that route. Even if expensive you know you’ve tried and you are not thinking: what if...?
