Cycle cancelled - poor responder -_-

Doc said my estrogens aren't going enough up and follicles are growing too slowly.

I've been on injections for 2 weeks: 150Gonal F + 150Menopur and we've then increased to 225 and eventually 300 for Gonal F while keeping Menopur at 150IU.

She recommended to stop all meds now and to meet next week. She mentioned we could try just a natural IVF (by monitoring the development of my follicles) or to start Clomid/DHEA and see.

I'm starting to think that Gonal F is not really for me (Last year I had another cancelled cycle in London but then I grew 2 folls on only Menopur 150 after quitting Gonal F). On the other side I'm tempted to think the follicles are just growing on their (even if slowly) own ignoring the meds. The problem is that I'm low in estrogen, I'm afraid this means they could just be empty or bad quality follicles. What do you think ladies?

All these injections for nothing... aaargh!

I'm feeling a bit sad but I can't afford to let myself down again to that black hole I was last year, so I'll wait and see.

Any advice on Clomid and or Dhea? Can they be taken together?

Thanks ladies, hope you're all well despite this lenghty painful struggle <3

Hi huni. Sorry to hear that things r going your way on this cycle. Before i started dhea my amh was less than 1 and after 4 months it's 3.1. Not sure if it been that but it can't hurt to try. Side effects r hair loss and oily skin but its a small price to pay if it works xxx

I see a counsellor, I definitely think it helps to get you through. I'm ok, had some more news about delays to our cycle though :( We were told had to wait until we were back from holiday in September to start but now it looks like my period will come whilst we're away so now I'll have to wait until my October cycle. I know it's only one more month but it's already felt like eternity :( x

ohhh, no :( I know.. this struggle is sooo long. that's one of the worst part of it, the wait that makes you think: time is passing by without me doing something to solve the situation. I definitel feel you!

Resist though, the wait sometimes can be for the best xxx

Sorry you had to cancel. It will be worth trying a different drug and the DHEA. You can order micronised DHEA online (which is the one they recommend). Hopefully you’ll have a new plan when you meet next week x

I think your attitude this time around is brilliant. Well done for not letting this drag you back to where you were. Wishing you lots of luck for a future attempt xx

Oh such a shame you're dealing with this! Your attitude is amazing, well done you its not easy to less this process drag you down! I would agree with the others that DHEA is worth a shot, takes around 3 months to take effect. Im sure your consultant would be able to let you know if you can take both at once.xx

Cheers bella, I really don't want to go back to depression this time. I have to do it for me and for my lovely hubby. However I'm looking for a therapist here, I believe it could help further more. I just need to take some courage and make the call hehe..

How are you doing hun? And your mum?

Im sure it will help to get a therapist on board! You are one strong lady, you can do this!

Im doing ok thanks. Over my disappointment, in some ways expecting disappointment now actually helps not to be so upset. We got great news about mum, no need for chemo....they got all the cancer, was confirmed as lung cancer so she's been very very lucky indeed, we all are!! On the road to recovery now! Thanks for asking!xx

Hi lovely, sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle. I’ve taken clomid and dhea together. I did a monitored cycle on clomid (whilst on dhea) and released two eggs and took clomid alongside bemfola on my last cycle. Might be worth looking at different drugs. I think that bemfola is just FSH whereas menopur has a mixture of both FSH and LH. I think some people don’t respond well to LH x

Thanks so much, Ash! I wasn't sure if I could take them together and didn't know which one I would have picked to start first ;)

I'm just reading your posts, so sorry for your cycle 3... I've noticed it's quite a tough August for many ladies on this forum, so unfair!! Sending you a big hug x
