No Period after failed Ivf

I ended up not having transfer after getting OHSS. It’s now 7 weeks after and still no sign of ovulation or period! It’s driving me mad 🤬 I’m still getting hot sweats which I don’t understand, if your period doesn’t come back after a certain time will they just start the frozen egg transfer anyway?

Hi Sarah,

My first cycle in Jan17 had to be cancelled due to OHSS and it did take ages for my period to come back as well.

If I remember correctly I spoke to the clinic about going on the contraceptive pill to reboot it but it did eventually come back. Have you had any scans or checkups since? I can’t remember the sequence of events but I got a huge cyst which was either the cause or a continuation of stopping my periods and they only came back properly after that had gone away which took a few months.

After that cancelled cycle in Jan, we couldn’t go again until August. I’m sure it won’t take as long for you as I think we were just very unlucky but unfortunately your body will only go at the rate it wants to go at.

Sorry not to exactly bring good news but rest assured that you won’t go the rest of your life without another period, it will come back eventually, but maybe speak to your clinic about what your options are if it does take ages.

Thanks. It’s just so frustrating isn’t it. I’ve not had any check ups they just said to ring on first day of period to start a frozen cycle. They are not particularly helpful when you ring them! It’s so frustrating, when you are trying every month you don’t want a period then when you do it doesn’t show up! X

Definitely frustrating. I would ask to speak to your / a nurse and ask what you should do if it continues not to arrive. Hopefully they’ll offer to bring you in for a scan to see what your ovaries are up to and go from there x
