Laparoscopy

Hi ladies, how much begging did you have to do for a laparoscopy? I am unexplained but just lately been suffering terrible bloating really dark periods and something just doesn’t feel right. Thanks x

I barely did any, but as they hadn’t managed to complete my hsg due to a pinhole cervix, I guess they had unfinished business as it were!

I waited months and months though once I was on the list, and couldn’t have nhs ivf until it was done as it was ordered through my nhs sub fertility clinic.

I have to self fund ivf do you think they won’t bother with me?x

No I think that’s all the more reason to push for a lap. Tell them about any pain during sex and painful periods.

Yes - get it done! I had to wait about 2 years to be taken seriously but that was after 5 years TTC and 2 cycles of IVF - it took about 2 years from the point of me going on and off to docs for my symptoms, different pills like tranexemic acid were tried during periods, blood tests for clotting disorders, bowel tests to rule out bowel issues (some of my symptoms were related). With periods getting worse and worse in the 5-6 years I’d been off the pill. The pain during period was awful. Keep a record of the pattern of your pain, where and when, is it other times of the month etc. Even if it’s not prolonged or unbearable, if it doesn’t seem like “normal” pain or a standard period, get it checked. In the end I had mild Endometriosis which they excised, and it was on both ovaries which explained the very painful ovulation I’d have that lasted a week each month. Eventually I demanded the lap and said I’d been patient had had this and that done but really felt getting in there was the only way: don’t give up x
