Periods after laparoscopy

Hi there

I had laparoscopy with resection of endometriosis 10weeks ago, stage 4. I’ve had 2 periods since then. I’m just on day 4 of my 2nd period and I’m bleeding so much heavier that I did before my op. Bright red pain, some clots, a little pain but a lot less severe than I had pre-op. But the flow is so much heavier. We are trying for a baby now too.

Did anybody have anything similar?

Thanks so much xx

Hi,

Yes - I have had heavy bleeding for 3 periods now, post lap! I had quite a heavy period fairly close to my lap but my post-op periods have been very heavy bleeding with plenty of large, gloopy clots (sorry tmi!). From time to time with my endometriosis I have super heavy flow anyway but it's hit or miss. I have also had less period cramps since op, like you mentioned but pain associated with surgery & healing instead. Also trying for a baby - almost 4 years now.

Have you been referred for any fertility treatment? xx

I found out I had endometriosis when I had an ectopic last year. We went for ICSI which failed so we took some time out, stopped trying naturally for fear of another ectopic and decided to try to sort out the endometriosis. We will try naturally now for 6 months then prob go for another cycle. I have an NHS fertility appt in 3 weeks, which has just come through. I’m still hopeful we will get pregnant naturally as we caught with the ectopic after only 3 months of trying. So fingers crossed. It’s the uncertainty that I find so hard.

Have you had any fertility treatment?

Xx

Oh gosh I can understand why you were worried after the ectopic, so sorry to read you went through that. Sorry also about your failed ICSI cycle. That's really positive you're trying naturally for 6 months!

Yes we're awaiting our first IVF assessment but also still trying naturally in the meantime. I have no expectations I can get pregnant naturally as it's never happened but we'll still keep trying anyway 😊

Wishing you lots of luck with thag bfp in the next few cycles! Hope my initial response reassured you somewhat about the heavier bleeding. Xx

Thank you!! It's a long road ahead with lots of uncertainty but it does feel nice to know there's a loose plan. Will keep my eyes peeled for any updates from you 🤞🍍 xx
