I had an chocolate cyst, tube and ovary removed. Was signed off by the dr for six weeks. Was very sore the first sort of 3-5 days but within a week the outside stuff had healed. Be prepared that your first period may undo some of the healing.
They only gave me ibruprofen and paracetamol. Was funny when they tried to throw me out of the hospital, they said I'd feel better at home in my own bed, when I asked if I got morphine at home they said no and I said I preferred their bed lol. Morphine junkie at that point.
Also I recommend Waitrose soft prunes because straining on that first number 2 can be painful. Everything will back up as your digestive system stops when you are under GA so can be quite compacted.
Peppermint tea is good for trapped gas and any stomach problems.
Emotionally my hormones were all over the place for about 6 months. Grief for losing an ovary hit me hard. Those cysts were probably releasing their own hormones so be prepared if things heal on the outside on the inside physically and emotionally it might take longer.
Thank you for all the information! I will get on the prunes! I've been signed off for 2 weeks, there was me thinking I'd be back after 3 days!! I'm so sore and can barely walk so 3 days was a bloody stupid thought!
My bladder feels full constantly but when I go not much urine comes out. Do you remember having anything like this?
Maybe they signed me off for 4 weeks but I was bored and went back after two. That might be it, they advise 6 weeks if you go abdominally. Sorry about that.
It was meant to be two weeks but my surgery went long as he didn't realise the cyst/endo was all around my ureter and I had to be stented.
I remember peeing hurting and I was bleeding but I picked up a uti straight after. Luckily the GP just gave me antibiotics without messing about testing first and it cleared up quickly.
Your not being able to empty doesn't sound right. Are you definitely hydrated and full and can't empty or just feel full and when you do go it's only a bit? Any doubt and talk To the GP to ask advice. I remember being thrown out of the hospital (removed from my morphine source!) and saying I thought I had a uti which they ignored but when I got home the frequent burning peeing pretty much confirmed it. Getting on and off the loo was very difficult and painful due to the bending.
Your lady bits, urinary and bowels are all packed into the same area so having a lap can effect all of those.
Hope you feel better soon and definitely hit the prunes. X
I've had laprascopy done and just got told to rest . Although I wanted to be up and about the first day I was groggy and I slept quite a lot that day . I bled quite heavily with the wound so had it covered with dressing. Best advice I can give is try and keep relaxed and not do too much strenuous activity .. xx
This is my third week off I had laparoscopy and I thought by the second week I would be fine but the pain while slightly improved was still so bad, I went to doctors and they prescribed a stronger anti inflammatories so look out for that and just rest it does get easier but takes time as much as getting to the toilet is crazy painful make sure you drink plenty of water xx
Oh bless you! I hope you're feeling better soon. Yes, getting to the loo, which is all I'm getting up for, is rather painful. It's more the getting up that's the problem at the mo and my bladder feels constantly full.
Hi all, I had a laparoscopy at the end of March for a chocolate cyst (endometriosis), the pain lasted about 2 weeks but got better with time. The most intense pain was around my belly button where my stitches hurt pretty badly, I couldn't sit or lay properly without being in discomfort, but I am fully recovered now, and feeling even better than before!
Emotionally I still feel down at times, but I believe this has to do more with fertility issues than with the laparoscopy itself.
It was so painful - felt like I had cracked ribs after - took a week and 3 days off work. Thought I'd be fine after just a few days! Getting up and down was awful. So glad that's over! Using bio oil on the stitches to try and shrink them. I found peeing incredibly difficult on day one - it just wouldn't come out, but I was fine by day 2 but got constipated! Fully recovered now - how about you? Mine was done in Margate. X
Oh goodness, that sounds awful! It took me about 2 weeks to start feel like I was recovering. I'm getting slight twinges now if I pick something too heavy but feel loads better. I'm in Medway.xx
