First IVF attempt

Hi, first time posting, just had my first embryo transfer yesterday, wasn’t quite what we were hoping for, our best fertilised eggs stopped growing however had an early blastocyst transferred but no way of knowing if it’s worked until test day. Just wondered if anyone else has been in this situation and how soon do you know if it’s worked or not? Am only 1 day into 2ww and am already looking at other options 🙈

Hi Sarah, I can't give you any advice but just wanted to say good luck. I also had embryo transfer yesterday on my first attempt and it's so hard trying to distract myself already. Xx

Thank you 😊 good luck to you too! The next two weeks are going to be torture for me too, took the day off work today but back tomorrow so that st least will be a distraction for a bit, everyone is so different it’s really hard to know how things are going to turn out, can only hope for the best xx

Yes exactly the same, off today and back in tomorrow. Think work will be a good distraction as I know it's a busy week ahead so will keep me sane hopefully. It's so difficult not to get my hopes up but then also want to keep positive so the emotions are on high alert at the moment!

Hey, just wondered how you are getting on? Already feel it's been the longest time. Works been stressful today so starting to worry about the affect it might have on my result. X

I’m ok I think, being surprisingly upbeat, work is helping, it’s when I’m home that I start to overthink everything, I’m usually in the gym 4-5 days a week but am on a 2 week rest right now while I wait the outcome of this cycle

I’m googling and symptom spotting hoping to get some clue as to what is going on in my body but no better off just need to wait, really is torture! How are you doing? X

I really don't feel I have any symptoms other than bloated from the crinone. It's an agonising wait. Finding it hard to distract myself. Must make some plans for this weekend or I'll be crazy by test day

Hi Sara_a_2018,

It’s my first time doing an ivf, how was your egg collection? Was it painful? I’m so scared as mine is on Friday 19th. Hope for the best for you, good luck xx

For me I had a little pain after and the clinic gave me some pain relief. It’s a bit like period cramps. It had pretty much gone by the end of the day.

Hi Anna00, as someone who doesn’t handle pain well at all and had a painful laparoscopy last year I was really apprehensive about egg collection and my blood pressure when they checked the morning of egg collection was pretty high as was very anxious but the egg collection was fine, you’re sedated so you fall into a deep sleep I didn’t feel anything and was in no pain, I did ask for the diclofenac though they give you it afterwards as a suppository so I think that helped, I didn’t need to take any pain relief just had some mild cramp. Hope everything goes well with your egg collection x

Hia, well it's not easy but just try to keep busy if you can. I had one 4bb blasto transferred and he took, I am 24 weeks pregnant with a boy. I tested from 6 days post transfer and got a faint double line even then. So if you are not very patient like me then I don't see much harm in testing early although I know some will disagree. Just do what you have to do to get through it. Good luck! x

Thanks 😁 I’m feeling a lot more positive today than I was yesterday, am just working on some visualisations and going back to work tomorrow that will definitely keep me busy, part of me wants to test as soon as I can, part of me wants to wait but knowing how I’m feeling I want to test as soon as I can know the results 🤞 thank you x
