Hi M. Oh gear, I’m sure some ladies will support you. Make sure you drink plenty of water to help your pituitary gland, which is where most of the work is going on. Good luck. Diane
Hi, my drug protocol is quite different to yours but I think the best advice is to take it day by day, let the nurses keep you right and try not to think too far ahead. The drugs can be awful in terms of side effects but you can't tell when they might hit you or how so no point worrying about what to expect until it happens. Emotional, sore head and bloated about now all sounds like a sign everything is working! More generally, I worried heaps about the egg collection but the procedure was absolutely fine. I worried loads about the injections. The first one was a thought and after that they were fine. I wish I'd saved my energy and worried less about everything 🤣
Good luck and keep us up to date with how you are getting on! x
Thank you! It is so strange, I thought it would be down regulation drugs for days then stimulation drugs afterwards, I didn’t realise you took both at the same time and then that it’s such a short time period in general! I think I’ve went in knowing not very much! I am so worried about egg collection; I can just about cope with the injections but I imagine that but will be very unpleasant! All the unknowns are very difficult and of course google is not too helpful with all these questions! 😂
I didnt realise I'd had down regulation at the time. I was quite overwhelmed and didn't know what all the different drugs were and just did what I was told. For my egg collection, I was chatting to the nurse and anesthetist about cocktails while they gave me the sedative, then had a lovely dream about picking mint from my garden and woke up thinking my dog was barking. It was honestly so easy so please don't worry 🙂 It is nerve racking hoping everything goes well but there is no need to be concerned about the medical side. You will probably be a bit sore and tired afterwards but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.
Thank you! So do you just not really remember anything that happens? And be had several operations for endometriosis but obviously then I was completely under, I’ve never been sedated and imagine it being really painful and uncomfortable! I would rather be unconscious 😂
I was unconscious for egg collection. It wasn't as serious in terms of going under as my laparoscopy, but when they gave me the sedation I went totally under and don't remember a thing. Whatever they gave me, it wasn't as strong as for my laparoscopy as it only took me about 30 seconds to get my consciousness back and I was OK to walk within a minute or two. (When I went in for my laparoscopy I think it took me a good 30 minutes to come round properly and I was in the bed recovering for a good hour or so). But the experience was the same in that I became woozy, went to sleep and woke up when it was done!
