Hi ,

In my next cycle dr is suggesting to use this for progesterone . Has anyone used it . And was it comfortable . I'm really scared as it's an intra muscular injection. And are there any alternatives to this .

I’m sorry I don’t have any experience on this. I wonder why they want you in the injection? I moved from Crinone Gel to Cyclogest after my first cycle and never looked back. It can be used as a pessary or suppository.

Have you shared your concerns with the doctor?

Yes I've he said in his clinic he advises so. Every consultant have their choice of protocol and medication cocktail I guess and this is his . I also had cyclogest in all my previous cycles

Hiya, I had the injections in both my cycles & it was completely fine. I used to get my fiancée to inject me in the top of my bum (alternating cheeks each night) and my best advice would be to spend 5-10 mins using some ice cubes too numb the area a bit first and it will take the sting away. Depending how long your are injecting for you will get bruises and what feels like a lump from the injecting but its totally not as bad as I thought it was going to be. X

Hi thx for coming back actually in my last cycle one of my injection sure got infected and became an abscess so now I'm petrified of anything too invasive . And my partner is equally petrified . So I'm a bit worried .

By the way how long did u have to inject

The first time I only had to inject till I got a negative test so I think it was about 3 weeks maybe & the second time I got a positive so all together it was about 14 weeks as my clinic liked to keep the prontogest injections up for the 1st 12 weeks of pregnancy but every clinic is different some will tell you to stop straight away and some will ask you to keep injecting for so many weeks. I was on the cyclogest pessaries for my first and second transfers. One failed, one ended in early miscarriage. I asked for the injections on this third transfer cycle - I was so sick of the mess of pessaries and just being generally uncomfortable all day with them. The clinic prescribed lubion which I was injecting twice a day into my tummy (you could go into your thigh but I found that painful). The injections are fine, felt like just a small scratch and no major pain when the liquid was going in. I had no abnormal reactions and found the whole thing far nicer than pessaries. After several weeks my tummy started to feel a bit bruised and was uncomfortable if the waistband of my trousers were digging in when I was sitting but that was the only downside for me. I got pregnant but am in the process of miscarrying. Again. I’m definitely sticking with injections next cycle though! X

Hi, I used pessaries last time and I strongly feel it isn’t going to work again, as my body just doesn’t seem to respond to progesterone tablets (even on microgynon) or pessaries- and it just didn’t seem to stay in (!).

My doctor this time said oh no Wel stock to protocol for the frozen transfer (!) - ugh I wish they would just think outside the box.

I’ve read that injections tend to work better so if you discuss the process of injecting with your nurse in more detail to make you comfortable with it I would recommend you try to continue!

Good luck xx
