Hello ladies, I had my ET on 20th of sept and had my test after 2 weeks and my first scan 3 weeks after the test. Which is in total 5 weeks of pregnant scan but in my scan form it says 7 weeks scan .

Do u know how does the pregnancy week count? I know it sounds silly but i am confused how many weeks i am pregnant now 🤔

A natural pregnancy dates 40 weeks from the first day of your last period. That assumes you fall pregnant half way through your cycle. So if you had your transfer on the 20th the amount of weeks pregnant is counted from 2 weeks before 20th so about the 6th September which makes you 7 weeks pregnant on 25/10/17

I was under the impression EC was tge day it would happen as eggs are fertilised then . Therefore you will be 7wks xx congratulations

If it helps, by the time you take your test you will already be classed as approximately 4 weeks. You can also enter your dates of transfer into an online ivf due date calendar xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It would normally start being dated from first day of your last period but as IVF medication messes that up it isn’t reliable in this case. I don’t think it’s OTD either as every clinic makes you wait different lengths of time after the transfer. I think that EC is the way it’s dated and that is the day of fertilisation. In a typical 28 day cycle ovulation (and therefore fertilisation) happens on day 14 and therefore they say that on EC day you are 2 weeks pregnant. OTD is usually around 2 weeks later so on OTD you’re approximately 4 weeks but the exact no of days depends on how long your clinic make you wait before testing. However on my 7 week scan they measured baby and he was slightly bigger than expected so they changed my due date by 2 days. They changed it by a further 2 days at my 12 week scan as he’d grown some more. It all gets very confusing in my view!

Oh yea its really confusing. I have checked through online and it says i am 8 weeks pregnant now and I will definately going to ask to nurse this time in my 12 weeks scan.

Anyways thanks for your reply and congratulation for your pregnancy. Did u find out the gender too? Do you know from which weeks we can know about the gender of baby?

Yes, we found out the gender. I wanted to know for nursery decoration purposes. You can find out at your 20 week NHS scan but if you can’t wait that long you can book a private gender scan earlier. I think from around 16 weeks. I waited until my NHS scan but it was a long wait between the 12 week and 20 week scan and I know a lot of ladies like a private scan in the middle.

Your pregnancy test date is generally equivalent to 4 weeks pregnant. It sounds like the scan would place you at 7 weeks.

First scans can be anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks depending on the clinic.

Is all confusing but we should both be 9 weeks today 👍😃
