^^^ Unknown Location Pregnancy IVF^^^

Hi everybody.

I would like to share my current situation and ask for your opinions please, if anyone has experienced the same thing.

I did the embryo transfer on May 25th. I got anxious after my IVF tranfer and wanted to confirm if everything was going ok. I did not feel any pain at all, no bleeding, nothing to be suspicious, but it is only me who needs to know more. I Did the blood tests and several scans. I saw the small embryo in one scan before 1 week and the level of Beta HCG is progressing slowly but is inside the range for the weeks that embryo is.

I went yesterday for a transvaginal scan , and they couldn’t see the embryo. I also did the blood tests yesterday and the level of HCG is progressing.

How can this happen, the blood tests are normal and they can not see the embryo in scans?

Has anyone experienced the same things as me ? Or I am getting crazy?

Any opinion is appreciated please.

Hi Adanali sorry to hear your having a rough time. I’ve been following your story closely and I can’t imagine how you feel. This happened to a friend of mine. When she was 5 weeks pregnant she went for a scan, they couldn’t find a sac and they suspected it could be a miscarriage. They asked her to come back in 13 days. When she did everything was fine and there was a strong heart beat. They didn’t ask her to do bloods though they just looked at the scans. I remember she was very stressed and I didn’t understand what it was about it’s only going through IVF that I understand more her worry. It turned out fine for her though but her story isn’t everyone’s story. I wish you all the best.

Thank you. I really hope everything is going well. It will be a miracle. Me and my husband are really struggling through all these years. You gave me again hope and let me feel relaxed for some days before doing again scans. 🙏🙏🙏

So by my calculation you are likely a little over 6 weeks. It can be hard to see at that stage. What is your HCG level? It needs to be over 7200u/L to be certain of seeing a yolk sac and 10,800 to see a heartbeat. I’m sure I read somewhere EPU can’t scan you if it’s not over 2,500 or 3,000 as it’s too unlikely to see anything. Xx

Best of luck to you. Your transfer was the day after mine so I’m awaiting my scan but mine is at 8+1-it has felt like a long wait! Xx

Similar happened to me. The sac etc was growing but no fetal heart beat (embryo). I was 6 +4 and hcg was over 24,000. I came off my meds and miscarried naturally 5 days later. I hope yours is a better outcome. It’s what they call a blighted ovum - which I didn’t think was even possible in ivf. It’s heartbreaking - all my tests were very positive and 3+ on clearblue. Xx

This also happened me.. although they then thought it was ectopic .. had surgery to find it wasn't. It continued progressing and by week 9 was declared a MMC. Since then I have had a second twin pregnancy that also MC .. After having immune tested it appears my immune system attacks the embryos thus causing the slow growth .. I am so sorry to hear u are going through this.. have u ever had immune testing done?

I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve miscarried two tested embryos recently and I’m about to have tests. Is there anything they can do to stop your body attacking the embryo? It’s a bloomin hard journey. I find it hard to think about anything else. Big love x

Yes they can treat you with steroids and intralipids or ivig along with sometimes giving clexane and aspirin.. although be really careful with the steroids I took them and had 2 really bad cycles while on them .. I think they may have actually caused all my hormones to crash as I actually actually no follicles and lining really poor. So when I came off them I ended up having to go on DHEA to bring my hormones back up. Will now be doing a duostim just to collect and will worry about the immumes during transfer

So sorry you are going through- I went through the same thing in March. The unknowing was awful . They couldn't locate my pregnancy I had some spotting ( which isn't unusual for me do every time but wanted to be checked over) unfortunately my levels were halving so concluded it was likely a miscarriage. Yours sounds more hopeful than mine with levels increasing and no spotting. I have seen others miscalculate dates ( not sure that is possible with IVF?) and the following week all is fine! Really hope that is the case for you. Pregnancy after infertility is very anxious and fraught time. Keeping all crossed for a happy outcome for you Xx

Hi, I’m going through the same thing right now. Had a double embryo fet on 19/05, had a positive test and had 2 HCG that doubled. I had the tiniest speck of blood when wiping and another test 5 days after the last showed my HCG was increasing but not doubling.

Scans showed I had a mmc but no sign of pregnancy elsewhere despite my HCG continuing to increase over the last 2 weeks. However today it’s finally dropped by a small amount so hopefully it will get back to 0 soon so I can get tested to see why I keep losing pregnancies.

The last couple of weeks have been the worse I’ve ever felt after a fet, and I am sorry you’re going through the same thing. I really hope that as was said above your embryo is just to small to be seen.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've had recurring miscarriages ( 20 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks) I hope you can get a referral to a miscarriage specialist. I hope that you can find out why the pregnancies aren't working out. Big hugs Xx

Hi lovely, for my second cycle of IVF, I had beta levels growing fine, but I was bleeding and had pain in my leg (not in the shoulder). On 5+4 my beta levels were over 5,500, but they couldn't find anything in the uterus, and they said it could only mean ectopic. Indeed the embryo was stuck in my right tube, and I had surgery to remove both.

I know someone who didn't have any symptoms, though, and she only found out at the 8th week scan, immediately after which she had emergency surgery.

But I wish you are only too early to see anything. Good luck, and let us know
