Success from IVF with no previous pregnancies?

Hi all. I am about to go into my first fet after a failed fresh transfer in November.

I have never had a positive pregnancy test and reason behind ivf is partner has low morphology (this is all that’s wrong we are ASSUMING at the moment).

Has anyone never had a positive test and then gone on to get one from IVF? Just looking for some hope. Thank you.

Yes, never knowingly had a pregnancy in seven years since I came off the pill before IVF. Tbh, I hardly ever tested as at first I thought it would just happen, then my period always turned up or I spotted even if late so I didn't have the hope to test. I got early BFPs on both my first and second fresh transfers - they ended before 6 weeks and turned out never to have been very strong (probably a progesterone issue) but my third BFP (first FET, plus tried different and more progesterone, plus aspirin) took straightaway and has been much stronger from the beginning. I also found the FET so much gentler and maybe it worked in part because my body had had a bit of time to recover/was in a better state, unlike straight after a collection. Best of luck x

Thank you so much for coming back to me. I’m quite new to the ivf journey but it’s so hard to have hope sometimes when you’ve never had a sign before. Keeping everything crossed for this time xx

I never had a sniff of a positive before my successful fresh IVF round. It was literally the first positive pregnany test I had ever seen in the flesh. Wishing you masses of luck xx

Me 🙋🏼‍♀️ My husband also had some sperm issues but otherwise unexplained. Never had a single positive test in 3 years of trying.

I’ve done four fresh cycles of IVF and had a positive test three times in 5 transfers. Two of those have been successful pregnancies xxx

Yes me. I assumed it was me not being able to get pregnant at 38 but our tests showed it was my husband - he was low across number, motility and morphology. He improved count and motility through lifestyle changes but morphology was at 1% and then we discovered his DNA fragmentation was 52%. He couldn’t have the treatment many men are advised (removal of varicoele or surgical sperm retrieval) due to a heart defect and circulation problems. We were told to try with his sperm but that we might need to move to donor.

So I had very low hopes for our first cycle but I saw two lines on a test (we made one miraculous blastocyst from 14 eggs) and I’m 33 weeks pregnant. It is possible xx

Heya. Yes - never been pregnant naturally, then finally success from IVF on third transfer. In our case infertility was unexplained - all our tests came back fine and it just wasn’t happening. Good luck! 🤞 x

Hi! 3 years of us trying to conceive naturally and not a hint of a second line. No confirmed reason for our infertility, but we feel it might be blocked tubes on my part. We did a round of ivf but was unable to do a fresh transfer due to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. However after a break to allow my body to recover, we had a FET and got a positive. Currently 25 weeks!

Wishing you lots of positive lucky vibes for your FET x

Hi AjbbaaI’m at a similar point to you - waiting for gateway appointment to our first FET, although we had a freeze all after the egg collection so haven’t had to go through the heartbreak of a failed transfer.. so far.

Our reason for ICSI is also male factor, my husband has azoospermia so had to have a surgical retrieval. Which is the reason we never had a positive test in all the years of TTC…as far as we know.

Im really grateful for our frozen embryos but scared of how I will feel if they don’t make it. Im so glad you asked this question.

How close is your FET? All the best of luck to you!

It’s such a weird place isn’t it as once you’ve got some good embryos you’d hope your body would respond well but I know there is some luck involved! When I had my consultation post fail the doctor wasn’t concerned and just said I’d got unlucky this time so I’m hoping that’s the case and we get pregnant soon!

It has been hard but that’s been magnified tbh with a close friend getting pregnant in her first month of trying!

I think we should be transferring at the end of the month! So not much longer hopefully. When will you go for your first transfer? Good luck to you too!

Ahh it’s hard isn’t it when it comes so easily for others, as much as we try to be happy for them. I was at a baby shower at the weekend :(I’m hoping our transfer will be sometime in Feb, fingers crossed.

Are you doing anything in particular to prepare for the transfer? Other than the usual healthy eating etc..

Yes it really is so hard!

Not really apart from taking multi vitamins folic acid etc. Healthy eating is hard in itself 😂. I’m not sure there’s much more to do apart from try to stay stress free but I struggle with that too 😂 xx

Never got a positive 2.5 years of trying. First positive was with my 3rd FET. Now 15 weeks.

I'm in your exact boat and also just about to commence first frozen in a few weeks. I'm just wondering if we should delay a month or not at the moment as I have a few high pressured weeks at work and still not feeling 100 from the fresh transfer in November. Best of luck xx

My first ever proper positive test was my 6th frozen transfer through IVF.

I'd never had any luck naturally and it turned out that not only were my tubes damaged and not working, I had incredibly high immune system which was subsequently rejecting every embryo we put back.

Now 28 weeks pregnant xxx

Thank you! It wasn’t easy but we did a lot of testing and trial and error and finally got there in the end xx

Yes, tried for years and then got pregnant on first fresh cycle. Pregnant again now with frozen transfer. Stay positive xx
