Results are in....mixed reaction 🤔

Finally my day 3 and AMH blood tests came back!!

My female hormone profile was within normal limits. Wohoo! The only issue was that I'm not immune to rubella (despite previous immunisations) so that's a little odd but I reckon is easily fixed.

However, my AMH is 6.5. The nurse said that given my age (my age!?!? I've just turned 31...) it wouldn't be recommended to wait any longer with that AMH. Is this a particularly low score? I'm getting confused messages on Google searches.... what impact would this have for ttc naturally or is this a significant consideration for intervention options?

But firstly I need to sort the rubella vaccine because they won't see me until I'm one month after that. 😕

I know I'm an impatient person but reluctantly starting to see that this is not going to be a quick process......

Your amh is in the low side but not very low. If your amh is really low, it can sometimes mean you won't respond well to the ivf drugs, producing less eggs in a cycle. However, the eggs you do produce can still be of good quality. When I had my first couple of cycles of ivf with an amh of 5.3 at 37 yrs old, I did produce some good quality embryos but never had lots to play with. When i did a cycle a year later, when my amh must have been much lower, I responded really poorly to the drugs and only got 1 egg at collection. However, I then fell pregnant naturally which shows even with low amh you can still pop out good eggs. I would agree not to leave it too long to try ivf if you have been trying for a while as you are likely to respond ok now, but ivf might not work so well in a couple of years if your amh drops further. I hope that helps x

I don't think she meant you're old! More that 6.5 is fairly low for your age and it would be better to have treatment sooner rather than later.

I was told exactly the same when I was 33 and my amh was 4.7. Unfortunately I had to wait 7 months to quality for funding!

6.5 isn't ridiculously low at all. I had icsi and had 6 mature eggs, all fertilised, all good quality blastocysts and I now have 5 frozen and a 6 month old.

It can sometimes take a while but at the same time the time passes quickly.

Anything you want to know about amh or the process just ask

X

I know how you feel. I’m 31 and my AMH levels were 6.1 I was heartbroken and I felt guilty for it. I was shocked as well. And it also turns out that I’m not ovulating either which makes things more difficult. If you ever need a chat I’m always here for you xx

Thank you, it's lovely to hear from you. I will be keeping an eye on your story and hopefully won't be too far behind! I really was in denial that i had any problems because i had no symptoms. We have our consultation at the fertility clinic next week. I'm not sure how long it will take to get started but I would start today if I could! Fingers crossed for you 😁 X

I started the fertility process back in January 2017 and managed to start ivf on the 21st of October 2017. My consultant said is time of the essence xx
