1st scratch 🀀 then bring on round 4 πŸ˜”

β€’23 Replies

I've got my 1st scratch on Tuesday and to be honest I'm petrified ☹, then start the pill ready for next round. To be honest I haven't got my hopes up I'm totally turned off from my clinic and dreading going back, they have put us under so much pressure to start this round before the new year due to egg quality, I'm taking DHEA and coq10 to trying to improve egg quality.

I just feel like everything is against us, egg quality and despite loosing weight I'm still at my heaviest weight πŸ˜”.... I feel so ashamed about my weight too.

I suppose what will be will be just wish we could already fast forward to the end and deal with whatever result we get.

Hey cocker _ crazy I had the scratch for this cycle and honestly it was fine. If they told me I had to have it again I could no problem. I'm not going to say it's enjoyable but it's horrendous either x

Thank you it's the hole unknown isn't it πŸ˜”, nothing we go through is enjoyable in ivf.

Did u take anything before hand or anything? My clinic mentioned gass and air for it xx

Gas and air really? I took 2 paracetamol an hour before and nothing after. It lasts seconds. The way I looked at it was I want a baby and that baby had to come out one way or another. That will last more than a couple of seconds. My husband couldn't come to the appointment so I just manned up and before I knew it it was over. X

I know I'm not sure if they just said you use gas and air cause I looked petrified πŸ˜‚.

I know I keep thinking nothing can be as bad as our final goal as in child birth.

I will pop some painkillers before I go then xx

Every clinic is different so maybe gas and air is normal practice. I went in thinking the worst. X

Thank you x

I have no experience of this but just wanted to say I wish you all the best with this next step and have everything crossed for you xx

I've had the scratch twice and honestly it's over pretty quickly, it's a little uncomfortable like a smear. You could take a couple of paracetamol before if you wanted.

Sorry your feeling so pressured by your clinic but don't feel ashamed of your weight - it's hard to lose weight whilst on IVF drugs. Sounds to me like your doing everything possible to give you the best chance xx

, I will pop some painkillers before I go then might ease my mind.

Thank you, I'm hoping to get a few more lbs off before egg collection xx

I’ve had two. The first one was fine and much like a smear. Very quick. The second one they had issues with my cervix and I found it more painful. But still it was over fairly quick. I’ll probably have another one sometime after Christmas.. But listen, if I can do it then anyone can xx

Oh but you will be, every hard thing you face, every fear you overcome, you’ll get stronger. Being brave means being afraid but doing it anyway xx

That's very true xx

I'm having my first scratch on the 20th and then start round 4 so know your pain! I'm having mine under sedation as I can't have internals, they knock me out for everything! I'm sure if you're worried you could ask your clinic? If you don't have to have the extra pressure then don't! Good luck for round 4 πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€xx

β€’ in reply toAleelilook

I think it's probably too late for me to ask now as it will alter recovery but thank you.

I hope yours goes well on the 20th.

Xx

Had mine 2 weeks ago and it was fine. Just like a slightly more uncomfortable smear 😏. My clinic gave me a NSAID pessary to take an hour before. Took nothing else after it. You'll do great! xx

β€’ in reply toLoopielu

Thank you 😊 that sounds totally do able the way you have described it xx

Like a smear test, the thought of it is worse than reality! It's clearly not a pleasant experience but it was really absolutely fine. Just try and relax and chat to the nurse with you and it'll be done before you know it! xx

Thank you I'm going to have a soak in bath tonight to chill me out a bit xx
