Painful periods after HSG

Hi lovely ladies,

Just wondering if any of you experienced painful periods in the months following your HSG exam. My periods had been pain free with a very light flow (not what i wanted either as doesnt bode well for TTC) since coming off the pill over 2 years ago but since the HSG 3 months ago I have experienced painful cramps & nausea during my period. I would say they are probably normal - period cramp pains but just unusual as I never experienced this before HSG. Has anyone had a similar experience? Xx

My periods have always been painful and heavy - but I have endometriosis ( only diagnosed last month after 5 years and 10 months of TTC)

But when I had an HSG done 3 and a half years ago my periods afterwards were particularly heavy and painful periods- my ex consultant said it was totally normal following an HSG -tho I'd double check with your consultant ( after all this same consultant that missed my endometriosis,)

The good thing about having an HSG is ( as long as tubes aren't blocked,) you have increased chances of TTC for 6 months after.

Hope things calm down soon for you I have full sympathy,-I know how grim it is having unmanageable cycles- fortunately since my laparoscopy mine have calmed down.

xoxo

I had my HSG 3 months ago. I've always had painful heavy periods, but they've been worse since having the HSG. I'm planning on speaking to my consultant about it, when I get an appointment for the results.

I got the same symptoms after HSG.

My doctor told me I have endometriosis, a chocolate cyst in one ovary, other cysts and a fibroid in the uterus. I got the HSG exam done. The exam confirmed my uterus is tilt to one side and my tubes are blocked and I need surgery.

The day I got my first period following my HSG exam, I had painful cramps, nausea and I was feeling very cold.

My husband got very scared and he started to research on the internet and found out about Serrapeptase. I started taking 2 pills (40,000 SPU) every morning on empty stomach. My second period I had no pain or nausea and I believe was that supplement.

I will have my third period in a couple of days and I will keep you updated.

Next month I'm going back to see my doctor to start planning the surgery.

Hi ladies, I know this is a mega layer reply as I've seen most of the post are from 3 years ago but just thought I'd share and hopefully get a little feedback with my symptoms!! I've just had/still having my first period since having my hsg.. I have always experienced very heavy and painful periods since 11 years old now 33.. and in the endometriosis club! I'm always bang on time 28/29 cycle.. this month how ever it came 4 days early.. (obviously felt robbed of 4 days worth of sexy time haha..) anywhoo it's been a painful one I wouldn't say its been more painful then normal, but it's been a strange one.. hardly any blood on my sanity towels found it was more when I went for a wee! (May I add I was constantly weeing) And my god the clots where huge. Normally I can go through nearly 2 packs of always sannys but not this time. On the plus side I've saved a few pennies..! I would say I've finally come to the end of my period but there is still bits coming out in like a mucusy discharge?? Has anyone else experienced this? I only normally bleed for 4 to 5 days as well. Im on day 7.. I'm putting this all down to having the hsg and my thoughts are my body is having a good old flush out..! I've got my telephone appointment through (as we are in a pandemic covid19) to discuss my results..!! Excited and scared at the same time, I just hope all is ok.

Thanks for reading

Lots of love

Hi Buddyrose

Hope you're well!

I found your post and am experiencing something very similar at the moment so thought I'd get in touch to see how you've been travelling since you wrote this!

I'm 32, have been trying for 13 months and had a HSG 2 weeks ago (also started on Letrozole the same month). Usually my period starts on days 27-29 of my cycle, and I might spot for a day or two beforehand. This month, however, I started spotting on day 23 with really sore/tender boobs, but it was always brown blood (with very occasional pink/red drops). The brown spotting lasted 5 days and today my period has started and the cramping is worse than I've had since I came of the contraceptive pill at the beginning of last year. Period isn't heavy (yet - hopefully I don't jinx myself) but pretty sore, and still having weird colour discharge today.

How did you go after you finished your period? Were subsequent periods just as strange? Have you had any luck TTC following the HSG?

Look forward to hearing from you/anyone else who might be experiencing the same thing!
