Post IVF (Chemical Pregnancy) Periods

Hi ladies,

I suffered a chemical after my first IVF round at the end of March. My periods since have been slightly different to what I’m used to. They’ve been extremely painful & very clotty ( a lot more than usual). I ended up getting out of bed three times last night as I couldn’t sleep due to the pain.

I’ve also miraculously had my first ever “regular” 30 day cycle period, since I started my period 17 years ago. Whereas with my PCOS I can range from 38 days to 6 months!

Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar? I’ve got my FET consultation next week so I can always double check with my clinic then.

TIA xxx

Hi 👋🏼 I had the exact same after my chemical pregnancy in February. My periods are now heavier and more painful but regular and 30days. I wasn’t far off before but they did range quite a bit. It feels like my periods when I was a teenager! Which was a looong time ago 😂 I am just trying to be positive and thinking maybe the regularity will help with my next round it is easing off a little bit now but still regular and still more painful than before xx

Hey same here! After my pc i had the heaviest ever (feb/march) and since then they are lighter and very irregular 12 days to 41 days (current). No pcos but irregular before CP as well xx

Hey I think this is quite common unfortunately. After all my MC my cycles have completely changed each time. I think it’s due to the hormone overload and even just an ivf cycle can throw them out of whack. Sometimes they settle down but sometimes this is just the new ‘normal’. Sorry that doesn’t help things really but just be reassured this is ‘normal’. Sorry for your loss x

Hi Chloettc. Unfortunately, any type of miscarriage can upset your cycle. One good thing is that they will be able to manipulate your cycle in order to do your FET. Hope all goes well. Diane

Hi Chloettc2020

Sorry to hear hun! I had the same thing after my Chemical. I also get very bloated like I am on busereline during my ovulation week. My cycle was probably on 28 days before but it’s now a banging 26days. It feels like once I am on & finished I am preparing for the next one lol. Anyway, yes lots of clots over the last few months. Very painful On one occasion I ended up in A&E. I have had times where I thought I was having a MC. I am also taking supplements and gearing up for the last IVF round starting this week so I don’t know if that’s also contributing!

Hope you are alright hun.

Sending you prayer and hugs!

Xx
