HSG messing with cycle?

Hi ladies, I had my HSG Exam on 16th March, which was more painful that I thought it'd be.

I spend the whole day following in pain & the rest of the week having bad cramps

I was 4 days late yesterday so took a home pregnancy test with the first mornings pee; BFN.

AF still hasn't arrived today.

Anyone else experienced a delay in their cycle after having the HSG exam?

Sounds odd but I really want AF to come to town as me & OH are going on holiday Wednesday & I don't want to be on while we're away as I always seem to have a period when we have a holiday lol!

Hi Joanna1701. I think you mean HSG? If that’s what it was, then it seems your tubes must have gone into spasm. It shouldn’t have made any difference to your cycle, bit perhaps a bit of stress might have. Hopefully it will start soon. Good luck! Diane

Hi Joanna,

I could have written this my self! Same experience with pain and delayed period (4 or 5 days.)

After some research I think that it is normal for the HSG to delay the cycle.

It’s a bit upsetting since also known that we are more likely to get pregnant after this procedure, and it raises our hopes until period comes.

All the best xxx

Hi Cat, so glad someone else has been in the same boat!

Exactly, its frustrating especially as I just want to fast forward to ovulation & keep trying as "naturally" as possible before IVF is the next step xxx

Definitely...

I already have my first appointment in IVF clinic, so now I feel like I am fighting against time to conceive naturally before all this IVF process starts

Crossing my fingers for both of us xxx 😊

Hi, I had a very similar experience when I had a HSG. My period was delayed for about 7 days. Also My first period was quite heavy from memory.

Similar to CatDV after researching it, it seems to be normal (despite the fact NHS and doctors tell you it shouldn't mess with your cycle).
