Obviously I know folic acid in taking pregnapure vitamins by healthspan. I'm also taking a multi bit with iron . I have a overactive thyroid so am on the lowest dose of propylitharacyl .
What vitamins and supplements do you ... - Fertility Network UK
What vitamins and supplements do you recommend ( and has anyone got thyroid probs)
I have opposite problem - I have under active thyroid. Make sure your blood tests for this is up to date as it's so important for getting pregnant. I get tested every 3 - 4 months and got tested again straight away when I got my bfp. The dose tends to change in pregnancy.
I'm on prenatal omega-3 since my bfp. The pharmacist discouraged me from taking too many extra supplements while going through the IVF and advised me to check with the nurses at the clinic. So I only took high dose folic acid and Pregnacare conception when doing the treatment, along with eltroxin for the thyroid.
Be careful with the extra multi vitamin you are taking. Vitamin A is not recommended in pre natal vitamins, so check the list on it. And I would have thought your pregnapure vitamin should have by thing you need in it without needing another multi vitamin. They are carefully formulated for conception/ pregnancy. Pregnacare is what I was recommended by my GP, there is one specifically for conception.
Thank you this is really helpful . ( what is bfp?) I have an app re thyroid in March but I think I might ring them tmr to bring it forward . my first IVF is this Tuesday so will hopefully know more then . Thank you x
I have not consulted with a doc yet, but thinking on vit D, while surfing come to this mirror co uk/news/technology-science/science/scientists-reveal-simple-way-boosting-7205569
I have heard of vit D helping infertility and preventing miscarriage. I asked my GP though and she said there should be enough vit D in diet and prenatal vitamins. It's in eggs and fortified in bread, cereal and milk I think. I wanted to be tested for vit D but here in Ireland it's not a standard test and I think it's expensive so I couldn't get it. I didn't want to self medicate so I made do with the prenatal vitamins. Worth looking into though if you can get tested!
Our specialist said the most important vitamins are folic acid (I take prescribed high dose), omega 3 and vitamin D, so I also take a prenatal vitamin. His view is they're all the same these days. Be careful with the amount of vitamin A and iron. You want enough obviously, but like with many things too much of a good thing can be not so good. Make sure you ask your specialist what they want you taking xx
