when did you stop fertility meds ?

hi all

After 4 miscarriages I’m 8 weeks preg (further I’ve ever been) after An FET

I am currently on

1/ 40mg inhixa (blood thinner)

2/ 400mg ultrogestan pessaries 3x a day (progesterone)

3/ 25mg lubion once a day (subcutaneous injectable progesterone)

4/ 12mg estrodiol spread throughout the day (2xAM, 1xnoon, 3xPM) - estrogen

I am due to go for my first scan with my fertility clinic this Tuesday (private)

When I go the HPT they told me they’d order more meds till 8 weeks - I agreed then as I wasn’t even sure I’d make it to 8 weeks and thought no point wasting money on extra meds

I spoke to my recurrent miscarrriage consultant (nhs) she said she’d only prescribe me inhixa and it’s up to the clinic what they want to do with the rest . I’m concerned that with the recurrent miscarriages I should be on progesterone till at least 16 weeks and the other meds till at least 12 weeks

I’d be grateful if you can tell me what meds you were on and how long for. And if you had to fight for it how you got around it?

I feel like I have to battle this clinic for any meds! They always want to treat me like a normal person despite my history which as you know has been extremely painful. I just want this to work so badly and be able to move forward with my life. I don’t want to be part of an experiment where they look back and go yeah actually in hindsight maybe if we had prescribed you more progesterone things would have been ok.

thank you ladies xx

Hi London Panda

Congrats on 8 weeks and good luck at the scan on Tues.

I'm actually a week behind you and on those same drugs so can't add anything but will be interested in other responses.

I have our scan on Thursday when will be 8+1 and was also told to only order drugs until then due to previous loss and they'll discuss which to continue at the scan.

Hope that your clinic will support you on taking for longer if that is your wish

hey thanks so much for your response and support- so the clinic are going to continue all my meds as they are till 12 weeks and she’s going to speak to the consultant about continuing my progesterone support to 16weeks due to recurrent miscarriages (instigated by me - something called gestation trials) apparently he’s done it for a patient before so fingers crossed. Would just help me feel more calm.

I suspect like Purple says your clinic will provide you with more drugs once you have had the scan. Mine only ever gave me enough to the next appointment so you are not spending unnecessary money. Some clinics wean at 8 weeks, 10 weeks or 12 weeks. I was given Inhixa to 12 weeks and then had to arrange to see an NHS consultant to get a continuation prescription for the rest of my pregnancy, I weaned off all the other drugs gradually. Congrats! x

congratulations! I went for a scan at 7w 4 days and was then given 4 weeks worth of drugs - apparently they could not give me more. I was told that I could go back and get more if I wanted and needed to take until the 12 week scan and then cold turkey or taper if that made me feel better!

thank you I think the same here but maybe more progesterone till week 16 if we get there due to history of recurrent miscarriage

Thanks for your reply and support xx

Hi there, I was a little different,After recurrent miscarriage, I had bleeding from 6 weeks onwards so they kept me on utrogestan x4 up until 16 weeks but stopped all other meds at 12 weeks. Scary but so far so good. I don’t think there’s enough research for an exact protocol yet which seems to be why it’s different in so many places.x Good luck going forwards. I really hope this is the one.x

Hi London panda, I was on 3 x utrogestan pessaries, 2 x 25mg of lubion and 1 x 20mg Clexane (blood thiner) a day. After my viability scan they dropped my lubion down to 1 x 25mg a day but gave me extra and said any sign of bleeding to go back to 2 a day. I took all these meds until after my 12 week scan which confirmed that the placenta was doing its job. Good luck

thank you for your reassurance and support yep they’ve given me meds till 12 weeks as you said x

hello,

I was weaned off them from 12 weeks. A lot of clinics want to know that 12 weeks scan has gone ok. I wasn’t on inhixa though At that time. I started that at 28 weeks and will stay on it until 8 weeks post if I have a c section. I also took/take aspirin from around 16 weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy. X
