This is going to be a random question but does anyone know if it’s harmful for baby…or me… to continue with the cyclogest pessaries after 12 weeks?
I suffer from a lot of complex allergies, which are extremely restrictive with food, & since starting this round of treatment, I’d noticed that my allergic reactions reduced dramatically. I’ve now started weaning myself off the progesterone (went down to 1 x 400mg per day , 1x5mg of Progynova & finished lubion) as I’m 12 wks +5, I’m noticing my allergies coming back 🥺
Little nosey on Google indicates that’s progesterone reduces histamines (which cause allergies) & im tempted 2 go back to 2 x 400mg cyclogest but don’t know if that’s safe or not.

Hi, I am 31 weeks and will be on progesterone pessaries until 34 weeks (to prevent preterm labour). My doctor had me on 2 a day (2x400) until 20 weeks and then reduced to 1 day. She’s a a very good Fetal medicine specialist and is very clear that they can’t cause harm. There is limited evidence I think that except for particular circumstances that they are beneficial re preterm birth but they don’t cause harm and she is often telling me how good progesterone is in pregnancy. I have a variety of auto immune stuff and incidentally pregnancy affects my symptoms/flare ups for that. Just mention it as your immune responses can change and affect reactions to stuff in unusual ways during pregnancy in my experience.
I continued with progesterone until around 18wks. My clinic knew and I was just using up meds I had, that and the fact I had a complicated history. It won't do you any harm, just remember to wean off and not just stop.xxx
I’m still taking 2 x 400mg Cyclogest per day and I’m 20 weeks 3 days. They told me at 24 weeks they will reduce the dosage and I am not sure when I will finish with it altogether. Of course, your case is different because of your allergy so speak with your clinic! Xxx
