Viability scan 7+3 and weaning off some Progesterone

PrincessGurn1984 profile image

Just had our viability scan at the clinic, am 7+3 and so pleased measuring and heartbeat are on track and looking good! Phew.

At the moment Progesterone wise, I’ve been on Cyclogest x1 in the morning and x1 in the evening and x1 Lubion injection at lunch time. They want me to stop Lubion from tomorrow, and to just continue with only the x1 cyclogest in the morning and x1 cyclogest in the evening. This honestly scares me 😳 weakening of the injections. Will just the cyclogest be enough this early on? The clinic reassured me that my own body will be producing sufficient levels of its own progesterone now but it’s just scary to trust it. What do you think? And did you have just pessaries at 7 weeks and it all work out ok and be enough? x

Hey, congratulations! It’s always reassuring to get that first scan done. I was only ever on x2 cyclogest in early pregnancy and all is fine. I was scared to stop the progesterone but everything was fine and had no effect on my pregnancy after I stopped xx

Thank you that’s so reassuring to know! I think where I’ve been on meds for so long (3 egg collections) I feel wary coming off of them but I know I need to trust my body to do stuff itself, really want to feel positive but it’s scary 🙈

I know it’s hard to trust your body after all the help that it needed but I kept telling myself my body just needed help to get pregnant and it knows what to do now that I am xx

That’s a really good way of looking at it actually! Thank you x

yay! I just had mine and also looking good. Really strong heartbeat and my CRL had more than doubled. Guess I’m just doing ok not being too nauseous right now! I chose to be on progesterone for this round and just checked as the vaginal one caused my minor bleeding. They’ve switched me to cyclogest x2 daily, and said they recommend purely based on the fact that I’ve had recurrent loss but it’s more an extra insurance than anything x

Yay so pleased your scan went well too! I’ve always done my cyclogest rectally but it’s good to know you’re on the same dose when we are at the same of stages of our pregnancies. Do you x1 in the morning and x1 in the evening? Can’t wait for 12 weeks to come around! X

super cool! I’m still in shock 🤣 progesterone were three a day but this one is twice (am and pm). Me neither! I also have a scan at 10 weeks because I’m listed as recurrent loss. Will you get another scan?

Yes I’m also being scanned at 10 weeks too! Then hopefully I graduate from my clinic 🤞🏼🥳🥰

I graduated today! As my next scan is back at EPU. Not too long! Which clinic are you at?

Congratulations! I’ll DM you x

Congrats this is great news! Now try and relax!! (No chance haha!) x

congratulations! This is such good news. If they want you to stop they must be pretty confident. Woohoo!!

hi I had the exact same worries but they confirmed my body would be making enough too… I weaned myself off it using the left overs I had. All was fine

Thanks for the reassurance how far were you along when you came off it? X

probably 8weeks once I’d finished the supply I had. I got my GP to test my progesterone and it wasn’t even super high… nevertheless they said it was fine at 47 and I had no problems thereafter

That’s what worries me that my progesterone will just drop off a cliff x

that was my worry too… but I presume they check your ovaries were making the the hormones at your viability scan? Previous to this pregnancy I had had a miscarriage so I was even more worried but they assured me it was fine and that’s why I got my blood checked. They did say I could continue and it wouldn’t do any harm but after the blood check I took it as okay and it was… you ovaries will make it until your placenta takes over at around 12 weeks
