NIPT tests in London any suggestions?

Hi ladies, can you share if and what type of NIPT test you did in your pregnancy and if we're happy with what it offered? When did you take it? What conditions did you screen for? I have had a transfer of a tested euploid so trying to decide if it's worth it.

Thanks!

Hi there, I think that outside of the NHS chromosomal test (scan + blood test with result calculated based on a formula), the NIPT is just a blood test that can be offered with scan, or without scan I think. From what I remember, it just provides higher accuracy for the same stuff that the chromosomal test looks for - patau, down’s and edward’s. We had ours done at the fetal medicine centre in london at 11+4 I think? Their website has all the info for when you can get it done, it’s a specific window. And it came with a scan (which was actually part of the chromosomal test that they did as well as part of the package, as you get the results on the spot and it gives you something to work with until the nipt results comes in) and we’ve found the scan brilliant. The guy truly took his time to check everything twice and walk us through it. Better than most NHS scans we’ve had. I don’t know if it’s worth having it done if the embryo has been tested, but it can’t hurt. Or you can just wait for the NHS chromosomal test and decide after that, if it points to high risk, whether to get the nipt done as well. The NHS chromosomal test also looks at some hormone levels too, so I wouldn’t skip that one, even if you end up getting the nipt done privately

Very informative thank you! I'll wait for the NHS test and then decide. Knowing myself probably will go for a nipt too but good to go into it with some results

hey there! We had a Euploid embryo transferred too but still did the blood test plus scan. All was normal. She is 5 months old now! I did have low patau scores so was on aspirin until a week before she was born.

Thanks! What's the connection between patau score and aspirin?

I think it was getting protein to the placenta via blood. Asprin thins out blood so faster flow…

I had a 1 in 210 chance for Downs, so low risk for NHS but I decided to do a private NIPT. I'm in the south east as opposed to London, but used an independent midwife who offered the SAFE test version, it was sent to St George's hospital, which is the same as what they do on the NHS locally. Thankfully everything came back quickly and I was low risk for all three trisomies. We also found out the sex. Everything seems okay so far, I'm due in next couple of weeks.

Hi Swimming87, I am getting an NIPT done at The GP Surgery (Wimbledon clinic). Its £375. My NHS one was low risk but we still wanted to do it for extra reassurance.
