Stopping medication at 12 weeks

Hi everyone

I’m 12 weeks tomorrow following a FET and really nervous about stopping my ivf medication. I’ve been on Everol 100 patches, 5 x Progynova daily, 2 x Cyclogest and 1 x Lubion daily. It seems like a lot of medication to stop abruptly and clinic said I didn’t need to taper. I have my 12 weeks scan next week but that feels like an eternity away at the moment.

I was wondering how everyone else went about stopping their medication and how they felt? I’m so anxious about it.

Any advise would be great

thank-you!

First of all - massive congrats!!

I was dreading stopping meds at 12 weeks, I was fortunate enough to have some extra cyclogest so I decided to keep them ready in case I had any spotting etc.. I stopped everything at 12 weeks and ..well I still have the extra cyclogest and my daughter is 15 months - all was fine! But it was reassuring to have something as back up! Good luck! x

Congratulations!!

I was weened off lubion starting at 10 weeks (I was also very nervous even though I did a modified natural fet and knew my body was producing progesterone) and I stopped lovenox injections cold turkey at 11+3 weeks. I was super nervous as well, but me and the babies are doing okay (twins) at over 12 weeks.

I totally understand how you’re feeling. I also stopped all my medication at 12 weeks and was really scared about it. But I’m now 27 weeks along, and everything is going well. Try to stay positive and trust your clinic’s advice. Wishing you the best of luck with your scan and the rest of your pregnancy! x

Hello, I stopped Progynova, cyclogest, lubion and urogestan at 12 weeks. I wasn’t told to ween off so was really anxious about coming off them cold turkey. I didn’t have any worrying symptoms after stopping but I did book a private scan a few weeks later to check all was fine for my peace of mind. I just felt it was too long a gap between the 12 week and 20 week scan and was going a little stir crazy. I’m 19 weeks tomorrow and keeping everything crossed all is still well at my 20 week scan. Good luck. Xx

I weaned off the pessaries with my little boy over a week or so just reducing gradually but stopped everything else cold turkey. It was completely fine. I’m currently 8 weeks and if all goes well I cannot wait to come off everything at 12 weeks this time around as I’m on even more this time and it’s a lot isn’t it! Hope time foes quicker until your scan next week 🤗💜 xx

Hi, I was told by my clinic that they give you 2 extra weeks anyway -you could stop the meds at week 10 but they get you to stop at week 12 so it’s all safe. I stopped at week 12 cold turkey with this pregnancy- no weaning off. To be honest I couldn’t wait to stop the meds. I experienced a few headaches after I stopped them and a few days later I got some bad cramps which I wondered if that was because I stoped meds but could have been a coincidence. Anyway, baby is doing well at 21 weeks and I’m just glad not to be on all those meds anymore x

Hello, I posted on here a little while ago as I felt exactly the same! It is terrifying. I was due to stop a little earlier (8 weeks). I made sure I had all the numbers for 24 hour cover from my midwife, so if there were any difficult reactions I could phone immediately. And then... I just got up one day and didn't take the meds. I stopped at 9 weeks. I felt a bit rough for a day or two (grumpy) but by 48 hours I felt fine. I made sure to do it 4 days before a scan so I had the reassurance of knowing the drugs were out of my system and everything was fine at my next appointment. I would recommend that! Now 13 weeks and counting 🙂

I was terrified too but all was well and I felt SO much better after all the extra hormone medications stopped. This was after a FET do my ovaries weren’t involved either but I guess the placenta takes over and knows what it’s doing. My all day nausea virtually stopped overnight and I felt much much better very shortly after stopping meds x

Hi everyone

Thank-you so much for all of your replies and really sorry I’m only just responding! So far so good with coming off the medication, had a scan recently and everything on track! I was really anxious the first couple of days and have had headaches all week but things are moving in the right direction. I feel lost without my daily medication alarms pinging.

Again thank you so much for your responses it really did make me feel more at ease.

Thank-you so much

X
