A little update: Finally some good news! 🎉😊

So we are currently 28 weeks pregnant (by far the furthest we’ve ever got). Anyone following our story on the other forum will know it has been a long one and the pregnancy itself has been a complicated one throughout! Our little one has been diagnosed with TGA (a severe heart defect that will require open heart surgery within days of being born in order to be able to survive). After a traumatic couple of months where we were constantly having tests & procedures to try to find out the problem and the initial shock and distress once we finally received the diagnosis, we’ve actually just had a relatively pleasant 8 weeks with no hospital visits. During that time my bump finally popped (and stopped just looking like I’d had a massive lunch) and I’ve been trying to just take it one day at a time and enjoy the feeling I have wished for, for so many years (of growing a little human). At our 20 week scan we were told I had placenta previa (low lying placenta touching my cervix), which if it did not move could cause bleeding as the baby gets bigger. And would also mean a c section would be required (as vaginal delivery would be considered too dangerous). Anyway I pleaded for them to bring my re-scan (forward from 32 weeks to 28) and we got the amazing news yesterday that it has moved completely! So that’s one thing we can tick off our complications list - which feels great! We’ve obviously still got a difficult road ahead of us, but I think it’s so important to celebrate any small wins along the way when you can! 🎉

It was a bad week! A friend told me is going for an abortion as she can’t have a 3rd child and is expecting me to help her and advice her 🤷🏻‍♀️My hairdresser the same, as she can’t have a 4th child. Another friend gave birth and called her boy with the only boy name we liked. You judge! Apart from this I’m all good! Xxxx

Oh gosh I’m sorry it’s been such a tough week. I hate it when you seem to get blow after blow in quick succession like that! It feels so bloody cruel when it’s what you so desperately want and are going through the mill. I feel you on the name thing too. My best friend and I were previously pregnant together. I sadly miscarried at 9 weeks and she (totally by coincidence as we hadn’t spoken about it) went on to call her daughter our favourite girls name (that I had pretty much given to the baby I had been carrying). It absolutely broke my heart, but she wasn’t to know and it was just bad luck. Sending you love and hugs. Do you know what your next steps are? Are you due to transfer soon? Wishing you all the best for whey you do lovely xx

I have 2 blastocysts on ice with NHS but finished the free rounds and I don’t know how to transfer them. If moving them to my private clinic because I will do Nk cells treatment with them prior transfer. Any advice? The clinic will call me next week and the NHS hospital the week after and they we will have a plan. They will also tell me what tests I need to do before transfer as I had 3 miscarriages now. I did most tests but there is always more to do right?! Xxx

Picalilli99 profile image
Picalilli99 in reply toFrancyItaly

No advice I’m afraid as never been in that position. I also haven’t had any of the extra tests. I had the standard ones the NHS do for recurrent miscarriage but all came back clear. If I was to do my time again I’d probably have done the additional NK cells, Alice, EMMA, ERA etc but as we never really got anything decent to transfer it never felt worth it for us. I hope that you are able to develop a plan you are happy with lovely. It’s fab to have 2 blastos on ice so wishing you lots of luck that one of those brings you your little one 🤞 xxx

I got off the tube on my way home on Friday and just burst in to tears - not because I was sad to leave work, but because I never really allowed myself to believe I’d actually ever get this far, and it all hit me at once. Been a mess ever since!! But I’m sure it’ll settle down this week 🥰❤️ Thank you! ☘️☘️☘️ Xxx

Picalilli99 in reply toChar2383

Thank you lovely. Yes I’ve definitely got more assertive over the years realising that as amazing as the NHS is, if you don’t ask you often don’t get. The midwife initially said it’s not something they offer, but said she thought in our case due to all the other complications it seemed reasonable. So I’m really glad I asked! My husband has been particularly anxious about it so it was really nice to be able to share some good news for a change! (he had to stay at home because he’d tested positive for COVID the day before! 😬 But thankfully he’s doing ok and so far I’ve been able to swerve it and I’m really hoping it stays that way! 🤞) xx

Char2383 profile image
Char2383 in reply toPicalilli99

Yes we’re actually here now! I was nervous on the plane but just kept telling myself that people do this all the time and it was safe. We were lucky the trip here was straightforward with no stress. It’s great to be away pregnant, we’re almost 21 weeks now and have our scan the day after we get back so that’s something to look forward to (worry about.. you know what it’s like!) But just trying to enjoy this time we have :) Keep us updated with your progress xxx

Awww sounds like you haven’t had it easy but so glad your placenta has moved. And snap I’m also 28 weeks with you. I’m sorry about the TGA that must be worrying but at least they have a plan and know exactly what to do… I’m sure it will all be fine. I also have a low lying placenta and no scan until 36 weeks so I will just have to wait and see if it has moved but it likely has. I’m surprised they told you so early as 90% of low lying placentas move up.

Picalilli99 profile image
Picalilli99 in reply toPositivechangeplease

Thank you! Ah no way what’s your due date? Mine’s June 1st. Yeah it’s not common for them to recheck until later. But we’ve had to have extra scans (they had to do a follow up scan of the baby’s heart at 28 weeks) so I just asked them if they could recheck the placenta then too (because we have so many complications it would be nice to know if one of them is no longer an issue!) which they reluctantly agreed to. Fingers crossed for yours moving too🤞 xx

Positivechangeplease profile image
Positivechangeplease in reply toPicalilli99

Well mine wasn’t placenta previa just low lying and last check up baby’s head was low down so hoping it’s moved. I think if it didn’t a vaginal birth would be possible. Yeah that’s understandable. I did ask because it mentioned a 32 week scan but she said they do 36 as routine anyway and they wouldn’t find anything at 32 they wouldn’t find at 36 - just to call if there was any bleeding. Luckily I don’t have any other known issues as yet. Yes! I’m due 31st May!

I'm so sorry about your little ones TGA but really pleased your placenta has moved, that's great news!

Like you I was told at my 20 week scan last week that I have Placenta Previa which freaked me out tbh. Previously I was worried about a heamatoma and a potential short cervix, both of which are fine. But then they told me about the P.P!

We are on a sex ban but consultant hasn't advised me to do anything else differently. Did you have any other guidance? Im also being rescanned at 28 wks so 🤞🤞Xx

Picalilli99 profile image
Picalilli99 in reply toFertilityjourney

Thank you! God it can be really hard when it just feels like one concern after another can’t it?! Glad that the hematoma & cervix issues are ok and fingers crossed for your placenta moving too 🤞🤞. No I didn't get any directions. They just said for many women the stretching as the belly grows often just pulls it away into the correct position. So I just hoped for the best! xx

So pleased you got good news. Wow 28 weeks so over half way now. I bet this last half will fly as it definitely did for me. It made me chuckle when you mentioned about your tummy looking like you’ve had a big meal as it’s funny what transitions it goes through and then it just pops xx

Thank you lovely. Yes already time seems to be going much quicker than it did earlier in the pregnancy which is nice. Terrified of what’s to come, but not really letting myself go there at the moment and instead just enjoying the growing bump. How are you and your little one doing? xx

Jonesy84 profile image

Yeah I found the first half went soooo slow but I think it was because I allowed myself to enjoy the second half that it went quicker. I still miss my bump 😂 I know there is a lot of unknown but your little bubba has proven already to be one strong bean!

He’s already 5months 2weeks! He’s amazing and doing well apart from the virus he managed to catch whilst we were away so me and his dad fell with it too. Errrgh it was rough but we are finally starting to feel human again xx

You’re welcome!

Hit and miss some days are bette than others with the anxiety. Touch wood the pregnancy it’s self is going well. Just reached viability (what a word 🤦🏼‍♀️) so that’s great but work is manic with staff absences so trying to do what I can whilst being careful at the same time. It’s funny the things they don’t tell you. I am Uber grateful to be in this journey and to have made it this far but doesn’t mean some days aren’t hard too. Thank you for checking in 😘 💕💕💕
