Birth control and fatty liver

Is anyone on a hormonal birth control with a fatty liver? My dr wouldn't allow me to take an estrogen pill but suggested a mirena iud. However I have read contradictions on that so thought I'd see if anyone here had insight

Can't help much here. There are some animal studies that suggest that estrogen receptors in the liver might contribute to NASH but if there are studies specific to people I haven't seen them. Minimizing the chemical load that the liver has to deal with is a conservative approach but so much depends on your personal history that only your doctor has a sense of. The IUD question is far out of our area though some here may have relevant experience.

Yes I was hopeful someone on the board may be in my situation. My dr said estrogen is a big no to him but the progestin in the iud is minimal in blood circulation so not as harsh on the liver. I'm just overly cautious until I get some weight off and my liver is healthier.
