Fatty liver and swollen spleen

Hi, I am fairly new here. I found out a bit over 4 weeks ago I have fatty liver and about two weeks ago I also started having a bloated feeling under my left rib. From what I understand that is my spleen. Anyone else have this and what did your doctor suggest?

Hi MomVincenza, I have swelling and pain on the left side (could be spleen) but everytime I mention it doctor does not address it. I am starting a NAFLD trial on May 21st and I will ask them about it and let you know.

My spleen is swollen as well my doctor said it’s due to fatty liver. The pain under my left rib they said is gastritis. Eating certain foods will cause it to bloat and pain. Trying to figure out what I can and can’t eat and drink. Start with your diet and see if it helps. Good luck🙏🏻

I agree with kimber and know that certain foods would cause discomfort after eating especially. Welcome to the group and I hope you find lots of inspiration. Many people are overcoming a liver disease diagnosis these days.

My doctor was concerned about my spleen for a while and checked it every time, but hasn't said anything about it lately. I think once I learned to stay away from certain foods the swelling went down.

I too have a enlarged spleen. Bloating and discomfort, the only position I’m comfortable in is laying down with feet elevated as fluid also gathers in my feet and legs😕. Dr started me on a small dose of diuretics, worked well for about 4 weeks, then didn’t seem to have much effect. Left me feeling tired 😑 nauseous & a total lack of energy, didn’t eat or drink much for at least two days 😞. Having made attempts to speak to a Doctor unsuccessful 😬I stopped taking my diuretic. Still have bloating etc, but now able to eat and drink properly again. As mentioned by others diet is definitely a factor in lot of cases, but how you get to know which is good or bad for you, I’ve yet to discover 🤔.
