I’m new to this group. I’ve recently been diagnosed with an enlarged fatty liver . I was able to get my levels down but recently had a bout of new symptoms (malaise , dizziness and heat flashes ) that prompted to have further tests done . These new tests came back with normal liver levels but came back positive for smooth muscle antibodies. I was wondering if anyone had any info on what this could mean for me . I am 30 yo and want to live a full and healthy life . Any direction or advice would be appreciated.

You will need to follow up with a liver specialist, but one possible cause of those is autoimmune hepatitis. It is important to follow up on that as it can be serious. The good news is that there are some drugs and many people manage it but don't wait to have your docs figure it out.
While you’re waiting on a doctor appointment, try making some dietary changes. It’s always difficult to be feeling poorly and trying to get a form diagnosis. You’re reading and that’s a great place to start!
You’re correct . I’ve been lowering my cholesterol steadily through clean diet and exercise since my initial fatty liver diagnosis . Thank u for your response
So I finally got bloods done through my newly appointed hepatologist . And he is now telling me that there are no signs of an auto immune condition. Is it possible to be positive for smooth muscle antibodies and then negative on a follow up test ? Kind of confused , any input would be appreciated.
Any news to your situation? I got a positive high SMA titer, mildly elevated enzymes (alt 85), ggt 115. Had a biopsy and it stated that I dont have AIH. No fatty liver, but inflammation in bile ducts without cholestasis.
