how long after pre-op assessment it is normal to wait for lap

I have just been told my pre-op and appointment to see anthyatist is next tuesday but have no date for op yet. Can anyone help as to how long I might have to wait for the lap

normally I've had my op appointment date first, then had a pre-op booked in for a few days or a week or so before the big day. I'm not quite sure why they would give you one without having a date, as they measure you, weight you and take blood pressure etc and all that can change if you are waiting ages for an op.

I shouldn't imagine it's more than a couple of weeks from a pre-op to and actual op, but maybe you are on standby for a short notice cancellation op date.

If you get the appointment still not having heard of an op date, then do ask them what they know about the situation. It could be that the letter with the appointment has gone astray in the post.

My pre-ops were both a week before.

If you are not sure give them a call as with my first op I didn't get the letter for the op until after I had my letter for the pre-op! I know some ladies on here have had to wait a while from pre-op, but that's not the norm.

My hospital says op can be up to 18 weeks after pre op, although I had my pre op in July and had my lap in march :/ not good, as i'd lost over 4st in between pre op and the op, i told them this but they insisted i didnt need another pre op, they then gave me too much anasetic as they based it on my old weight -just ask at the pre op what is standard time, as I think each area differs xx

I have my lap this Tuesday but had no pre-op just had to pop in for mrsa swab....weird!

The Pre-Assessment tests are usually carried out around six weeks before surgery. However, some test results, such as the MRSA check, only last four weeks so you may need to have some Pre-op checks repeated.

I just asked my consultant this and he said up to 3 months x
