mine took 12-15 months to settle, it went through a whole range of symptoms, it was only the last 3 months of having it that i stopped bleeding everyday, it never helped with the pain but it did dramatically reduce the heavy flow, even though for a long time i would bleed everyday it was light, so manageable. i had it removed as within a month or so of it going in i started to lose a lot of hair, and feel my hair has thinned a lot on top and was convinced it only started since it went in xx

I can only comment as a positive experience. Took 6 mths to stop spotting but then remained period and pain free. Doesn't stop the endo breeding tho as I have now reached stage 4. My coil is 4 yrs old and there are tell tell signs that its now failing but I'm having hysterectomy in may so not too concerned about that. However I'm not enjoying the pains I'm experiencing but nothing in comparison to some :( in all the m-coil has been brilliant for me. Good luck j x

Like jalo, I have high praise for the good it has done me.

How in those 3 months did it not suit you?

What aspect of it was worse than having period pains and bleeding anyway?

Or did they get worse on it?

It's not ever an instant fix sadly, but the rewards of waiting for it to kick in, putting up with periods in the meantime, when it finally does work are wonderful.

I'd say give it another go, get it installed properly with the help of ultrasound to make sure it is correctly placed. Which they can do a much better job of, when you are under a general anaesthetic. You shouldn't feel it at all if it's properly in.

i do think its worth having another try of it, it made everything worse and i was always awear of it like i could feel it it was like having a tampon in every time i sat down i got really bad pain and passed out! i had really heavy periods while it was in none stop just made everything worse!an i got really unwell and dropped alot of waight!

I understand things arnt an instant fix! none of the treatments are!
