Pain post Mirena and lap, and in scars.

Hi,

I had a lap and hysteroscopy three and a half months ago, for suspected endo, as I was in constant pain and was bleeding heavily near constantly. They removed a few polyps and extensive adhesions and suggested it was adenomyosis rather than endo, due to the texture of the women and the fact it was the size of a 16 week pregnancy.

Anyway, after fitting the Mirena at the same time, bleeding seems significantly lessened. Pain, on the other hand, is getting worse. It feels like contractions, and the only way to get through it is by concentrating on breathing. Now, the surgery scars on my left side have started stinging as well. So fed up.

Hi bunkum

I have not had the Mirena, nor hysteroscopy or Lap so I can not help if the pains you are experiencing are part of that. Sorry.

I just wanted to say sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Have you been to your GP re pain relief?

I hope you get some help and some relief soon.

I wanted to answer so that you know that you are being heard and you are not alone. But sorry I cannot be of much help x

i've not had a lap yet (first one on the 19th of this month) but i have had a hysteroscopy and had a mirena fitted at the same time. the mirena, i really struggled with as the first 6 wks the pain was awful, worse than the pain i had before it, but in the last couple of months i have finally stopped bleeding all the time, as until xmas just gone i would bleed everyday, not heavy unless on my period, which is very unregular and get at least two a month, but it has reduced the heaviness of the flow, as pre-mirena i was housebound, bathroom bound sometimes when on period, whereas i always seem able to cope with it now.

pain, however, no it has not helped at all, i still feel my 'daily pain' in varying degrees, and i have 3-4 days per month, usually when on period, i have several hours of labour pain each of those days.

gynae agreed last july to remove the mirena and do an ablation, as i felt that i'd given it long enough, 12 months, to give it a chance, like i say it has improved flow dramatically and i believe it has helped with my mood swings possibly, i seem to have had a bit of hair thinning since it has been in too, not sure if it is the cause or not but it only started once it was in.

they are doing my lap the same time as they remove mirena and do ablation, i know the ablation wont stop pain either but i really dont want the mirena any longer.

i hope you feel well asap, and take care xxx
