Help..

Hi all i am new to this sight and to endo . It was confirmed last may after i suffered with a lot of abdominal pain . i am at stage four and there is not a lot they can do other than remove my ovaries. i was put on the three monthly injections x 2 and they are just starting to ware off and the pain is back just as bad .. did not suffer with as many side affects as some of the rest on u on these injections thank god but it still took its toll on me . i have keep what i going through from my friends cause i don't want them to know . i am a very private person and find it hard to talk to people about what i going through .. i find that my gyne will not give me to much info on what these injections have done for me so if anyone could shed a bit of light i would much appreciate it .. has it killed of the endo or will i end up on lots of medication like the pill and pain killers

Hi Salivia and I am sorry you are going through a hard time

The injections 'turn off' your ovaries and put you into a false menopausal state. Because your menstrual cycle is shut down for the time the injections are in effect, your endo will not grow, and it may even shrink back a bit, but it won't have 'killed' it. Unfortunately there is no cure for endo, it is a case of keeping it under control and treating the symptoms, but there are so many other things they can do other than just remove your ovaries (which incidentally might not help anyway).

It sounds to me as though your gynae is perhaps not as experienced with endo as he/should be, it might be worth asking your GP to refer you to an endo specialist in your area who will be able to take you through all of the options, and explain it all very clearly to you
