Do not fear. Absolutely nothing to worry, all to gain. You'll find out what's wrong and you'll be treated. Most days you'll be pain free like me! First lap Aug 11, within 7 months had 3 of em!!

Last one a walk in the park. Walked 3 miles after 3 days.

You'll be fine.

Try not to worry too much. You'll be we'll looked after and given appropriate pain relief. My lap was not too bad at all, I was just tired and sore for about a week.

The op won't be bad, remember that we are all used to pain because of this disease, so it isn't as if that's going to be anything new and they give you strong painkillers if you need them. However, you will be tired afterwards and if you push yourself it will take longer to get back to normal. I have a friend who is a retired GP and she says that you should go to bed every afternoon for two weeks at least.

My first op was like a miracle. I didn't know I had endo when I went in and it was supposed to be purely diagnositc, but I'd had this awful permanent pain in a very specific place for decades. I had been told it was stress related IBS, which I knew it wasn't.

Anyway, I came round and the first thing I said was, 'the pain's gone'. They kept thinking I was asking for painkillers but I didn't need any at all I was just so astonished that the pain had magically disappeared. Of course when the surgeon came to see me and told me what she had found and what she had done it all became clear.

Oh, and be ready for the diaphragm/shoulder pain as a result of the trapped air from when they inflate your abdomen for the op. You'll be doing lots of burping! and it helps me if I don't lie flat but sleep semi sat up for the first night, so if you are just in for the day make sure you have enough pillows at home to support you in a comfortable position.

Finally, the thing that frightens me is going under, I tell my anaesthetist that I don't like the swimmy feeling because it reminds me of migraine and makes me panic and ! ask them to tell me exactly what they are doing and when so that I am ready for it. They are very caring these days and will do almost anything to make you comfortable, I even take in my own pillow from home because I have a bad neck and they let me keep it for the op.

And I've thought of something else! I get a sore throat and love to have jelly to soothe it, I never eat it otherwise.

Good luck!
