Hey everyone, so the hospital rang me today offering me to go in for my pre-op appointment this week, my mri is not till the 21st. Does this sound strange to anyone? Also now I am getting my hopes up that my operation will be sooner rather then later is this silly? Thanks xx

Hi! I may be wrong but I believe a pre-op lasts for 3 months so normally an operation is planned in within 3 months of the pre op date.. that being said! I recently managed to get my pre op booked in, and a week later rang to push things along to ask for a surgery date because work was pushing me for the info.. and the lady was able to give me a rough estimate of time frame!! She also 'pencilled' me in for a date - which is unheard of so don't want to get your hopes up but do give the booking centre a call or your gaeny PA and ask if they can give you an estimate I would ;) xx

Hi! You're so right about the entire system being so busy. I've been waiting since August just to see a gaeny and this happened in Feb - after the Dr expedited me. I've not had a laparoscopy before so mine is to take a look which means I've not had an MRI. I've just been reading a few of your threads, your symptoms are exactly what I've had over the years - hope your upcoming surgery all goes well and that you get a date soon! My pre op is the 26th April :) so similar time frame. My op apparently has to go ahead before end of May so will be a quick turn around for me thankfully - depending on pre op results, hope yours comes around just as quickly!! Xx

It’s crazy isn’t it how long you have to wait I suffer really bad , I’m trying to carry on and live life and run a business but it’s bloofy hard not gona lie I’m shattered all the time my bowel plays up most days pain and purgy feelings .. just awful but I’m staying positive, that’s all we can do ay !

Well

I hope they find out what’s going on for you when you have your laparoscopy

I had mine in November the mri I just had was to see how deep the lesions are on my bowel and then they will say if I need big bowel op or lazar

I’m hoping it’s not that bad ☹️

Just want to be fixed now and try for family

Thank u keep me posted xxx

I bet you are! It sounds as though you have been through an awful lot. Having to deal with all the pain and run a business.. omg! Wow.. your a machine lol I don't think I could do all of that.

Part of the reason why I'm having everything looked into is because we have been trying for a family now for over 2 years with no joy. While my potential endo symptoms have been getting worse and worse, I've always just accepted them as normal and it's only now that time has passed with no pregnancy joy that I felt the need to look into what exactly is going on. That being said, if I had experienced anywhere near the pains I have over the last year or so, id have definitely followed up sooner. I thought they were bad before but oh my word! Codeine doesn't touch it most of the time. I hope, the same as you, that once this step has been taken, we can both take comfort knowing things are in place to begin a family without worry. Fingers crossed. Will definitely keep you posted - same to you! Xx

Oh no I thought it was 6 months. I had mine in Jan but when I rang the hospital last week they said the consultant who is doing it is booked up till the end of April then on holiday so it won't be till at least the end of May. Another pre op for me then!

I have a strong opinion on this but I don’t want to sound biased because I’m not an expert and I’m not sure how healthcare works in the UK (I got my excision surgery in New York). Some doctors aren’t concerned about the MRI because they aren’t able to read it, so they depend on the radiologist. For me, none of my doctors or even radiologist could detect endometriosis in the scans (like 6 professionals), but when I met with a laparoscopic excision specialist, he could see it within a couple of minutes. He later completely excised the disease from all of those areas and more.
