Should I change HRT?

Hi , I'm currently on tibolone add back HRT to counter act chemical menopause from zoladex. Having surgery soon and wondering if I should swap to the transdermal oestrogel pump and utrogestan pill due to less clotting risks and I've heard its more natural HRT ?

Also the tibolone hasn't helped with some menopause symptoms. Skin around my eyes feels like it's peeling, so dry and still getting hot flushes n nausea

Hospital said its best to stop tibolone few weeks before surgery due to clotting risks but if I feel can't manage without it can carry on so my choice. After reading about how the gel is more natural and no clotting risk was wondering if I should swap ? Has anyone swapped from tibolone to the Gel and utrogestan pill?

Thank you

I swapped from tibolone to Everol patches and utrogestan. Much much better than just the tibolone for me and I could use them five until my surgery (and after).

I swapped to everol conti 50mgs patch. Heavenly lol! Go for it, try stuff. I had more perimenopause symptoms and needed support. So that’s why I got a patch.

10 days post op from total hysterectomy (ovaries taken too) and the recovery is nowhere near the Endo pain before surgery. Best thing I have done as organs fused and it was a mess in my pelvis.

Good luck 🤞🏼

I would wait until post op then swap over. They'll probably want you to take blood thinning injections post op so they ask you to stop your HRT until you've completed them (I have had 5 days) then you could start your body identical HRT which is much better than synthetic Tibilone. I know transdermal HRT doesn't cause clotting but when you are out of your head on tramadol (which is exactly when they come to have a professional conversation with you) you really cannot be bothered to argue. I'm day 3 post op and I'm home now but it's a big operation. I know I'll sleep better when I can have HRT and lie on my side. You'll need to keep the estrogen in check with the utrogestan or unfortunately the endo will return xx

Hello Hannah818 to be honest I was taking tibolone because I’m on prostap ,didn’t helped me at all even made me start to bleed heavily again, the doctor told to stop taking it since then the bleeding became lighter, soo if you still fell menopause symptoms maybe you should stop but it just my opinion. Wish you the best.
