Switching from Tibolone to standard HRT

I’ve actually posted this in the Menopause Community but realised you guys seem to mention Tibolone more.

I was on Prostap injections with Tibolone as some add-back HRT. I then had a hysterectomy, so I am now moving from the Tibolone (which I’ve read helps your body to make oestrogen/progesterone) onto an oestrogen/progesterone patch (which gives your body the hormones).

The doctor said to start using the patch and keep on the Tibolone but start weaning off it. So I take it every second day, then every 3rd day until done.

Does anyone have this experience? It sounded a bit strange but if they work differently it may make sense.

Thanks.

I haven’t had this same experience, no. I have zolodex and tibilone.

But what they are doing makes sense. So you don’t get awful menopause symptoms. They’re trying to keep you stable by doing it this way and so that makes sense.

I did this too while on prostap and the patches were so much better than the Tiblone. It controlled my symptoms much more effectively. Hope it works well for you.

Did you take it every second day for a week, then every third day for a week and so on, or e.g. miss a day, take one, miss 2 days, take one and so on?

I don't remember doing that (but that doesn't mean I didn't 🤣)

LOL. It’s bad enough trying to remember why I’ve gone upstairs sometimes..

Hi, I'm having a hysterectomy 15th September and have been on prostap for 12 months and Tibolone for 9 months, while I've been waiting for surgery. I've been told to abruptly stop Tibolone as my surgery was only 2 weeks away when I got the call. I think it's best to wean off it, while starting the patches so you don't have fluctuations in your hormones levels. I hope you don't mind me asking but what is the name of the patches are you starting on? xx

Hi 77yellow. I am on Evorel Conti which is a combined patch. My surgeon, an endometriosis specialist who did my hysterectomy and endo excision, said I was to be on Evorel 100 which is oestrogen only. My GP will not put me on that until she has it in writing from him due to the endo.

Your GP sounds good and very knowledgeable about HRT for endo. Hope you find the evorel conti works for you. Thank you for letting me know what patches you are on. I'm not sure what I'll be offered after my surgery xx
