Need to lose weight before surgery

Hi,

I’ve been suffering for years and after several scans (also found a 6cm Dermoid cyst) gyne appts, my doctor has agreed to need to have a laparoscopy. Only catch - I need to lose around 3st. I am trying my best to lose weight anyway without much luck, it was very very slow but I find it hard to believe they expect me to lose 3st within 6mnths to be able to book the surgery.

I am feeling very deflated and I really don’t know what to do. I am desperate for the surgery and I am desperate for answers.

Hi. Have you thought about asking your consultant for support with weight loss? There's a number of things they can offer you to help xx

Hi from my researching weight gain for ladies like us is part of the condition so to speak as we retain water. Can you go back to your gp and tell them this, I've been told weight loss can be so difficult for us. Three stones is a lot to lose. Perhaps they might reconsider if you explain this. Sorry to ve a bearer of such news. Sending you a big hug x ❤️🤗

I’m not sure if they can reconsider as it is my understanding that this requirement is for the patient’s safety during surgery, or so I was told. Happy to be corrected but just didn’t want there to be false hope x

Oh great! Well maybe then! Maybe they say more than they need you to initially even!

I followed Lara Briden's new book's advice which is designed to help your hormones. She recommends quite a few supplements and I tried it and lost 15 pounds. I'd have a read. I'm a big fan of her work as she makes a lot of sense xxxAnother good book is The Obesity Code x

Women with endo often have insulin resistance so it's all about changing this xx

Hey, sorry to hear surgery and the weight loss is feeling so unachievable. Have you asked if your doctor if they will refer you to a dietician for support? It might also be worth checking out the free nhs weight loss plan, but I’d imagine they already sign posted this
